Christian the DJ
Christ!an is a South Bend transplant. His first electronic event was 1998; by 1999, he started to put ear-to-decks to explore music as he wanted to explore, taking his cues from fellow technological adventurers Ean Golden and Richie Hawtin, tapering it with the narrative design of a Josh Wink set and the experimental heart of Flying Lotus. His is the fist for the New Boogie Coup, with a diverse musical palette and insatiable drive that is the culmination of years of dancing, watching, and learning, and designed for one thing only: the groove. With the technical precision of a rocket surgeon, he’s had mixes featured on Traktor Tips’ blog and MojoRadio. His mission is accomplished if the audience status quo has been challenged and the dance floor is drenched.
Shy Guy Says
SHY GUY SAYS is an electronic music producer and performer straight from the Mushroom Kingdom, an 8bit villain ready to destroy any party at any time and somehow leave his victims wanting more. His eclectic, yet upbeat and danceable sound can best be described as a mixture of Hip Hop, Glitch Hop, Dubstep, Trap, and Drum N Bass.
It’s know for its heavy rhythmic swagger, yet at the same time can be lush and loaded with dirty synth bass sounds, warm ambiance, and 8-bit glitches.
Over the last decade, Jin-XS has become a recognizable face in the Indianapolis DJ scene, across a broad spectrum of genres.
Born in Uqbar, later moving to Broad Ripple in Indianapolis at the age of 3, Jin-XS spent much of his youth and teens in the rave, industrial, and hip hop undergrounds, but his work as a DJ began 1999 in Denver, when a cousin taught him the ins and outs of using DJ equipment. Around this time he also began teaching himself a variety of music software. By 2003, he had begun his work with instrumental production and mastering the art of DJing itself, and continues to the present, spinning an eclectic mix of genres in some of Indianapolis’ biggest music venues. In 2009 he opened for “End:The DJ,” the #1 Industrial DJ in the world, at Gencon. He has been a show DJ with top acts such as My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, The Ready Set, Naughty By Nature, and InnerPartySystem, and appeared in BET’s tour commercial for Murphy Lee. Currently is a part of the G9 Collective, IndyMojo’s DJ crew.
Jeremy Daeger aka That Guy
Jeremy Daeger credits the beginning of his musical career to his father who handed him a DJ setup at the ripe age of 14. A hand-me-down from the neighbors, Daeger never knew it would be the beginning of a lifelong passion and hobby.
Like many self-taught DJs, he learned the ropes through relentless practice at beat-matching and mixing records. When the 90’s hit, Daeger embedded himself in the burgeoning rave scene and felt a renewed connection to music.
Reflecting on his earliest work experimenting with electronic music, Daeger explains, “I started with house music because it was a 4/4 style and easy to beat match.” It wasn’t long before he discovered the style of breaks in 2003, allowing him to branch out into new musical territory and leverage his love for hip hop and funk. “It’s more than just a beat,” Daeger says of his special blend of break beats and groovy jams. “It has vocals and familiar rhythms that people can really get into.”
An active member of the G9 Collective since 2009, That Guy The DJ’s distinct blend of hip hop and break beats further diversifies the well-rounded group of DJs. Mixing bass, funk and rhythms to make you want to dance, That Guy The DJ delivers guilty pleasures from your radio and iPod, but with more energy and sophistication.
