Cam Pierce

Cam Pierce was born and bred in the West… way West. Born in a tiny logging town in Oregon and growing up in the deep woods of the Southern part of the state. All his time in the forests watching, listening, and being still shaped his spontaneous approach to songwriting. Occasionally as a young adult he recalls becoming discontented with small town life and yearned for the bright lights and fast pace of the city. Though these few fantastic bouts in babylon would present new experiences and test’s for the compass of a young man’s life and spirit. The woods, and the small town living would always call him home.

Moving to the growing metropolis of Nashville was not such a means of escape, but one of sacrifice in the hopes of advancing his career in Music and Songwriting. From booking his first festival 1 year after arriving in Nashville, to playing the “Country Music Hall Of Fame” to opening for Sunny Sweeney on tour in 2024, to cutting the first record at FAME studios infamous Studio “B” after it’s re-opening in 2021; the opportunities that have come Cam’s way are miraculous for a small town boy from Southern Oregon. He’s played with a string of incredibly talented musicians over the years. Like Anthony “Ziggy” Johnson, keys for “Alan Jackson” and “Whispering Bill Anderson”, Mike Klooster, Keys for “Smashmouth”, Chad Gamble and Jimbo Hart both members of “The 400 Unit”. The list goes on and so does the gratitude to such folks for lending their crafts.

“When I came to Nashville it wasn’t with friends. I had no contacts, no connections of any kind. I knew no one, and had nothing. It was sheer drive, trust and stupidity. Like a blind man diving into the ocean”.

Now with over 7 years of “Music City” in his rear view mirror, memories blurred like waking from a sleep. Successes dotting a landscape permeated by ever stretching question. 7 years of relentless pursuit in the music industry. An industry whose opportunities almost always seem as far away as they are close. 2023 saw the release of the first studio album titled “The Horseshoe”. A Record that leaves the listener feeling like they stumbled across a forgotten jukebox loaded with unheard songs by the singers their grandparents listened to. Looking forward to the future.

The next chapter for Cam is led by the demarkation of the release of the aforementioned album which he and members of “The 400 Unit” recorded at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. A 12 song ride through emotion and thought. A deep dive into the mind of a storyteller who’s lived the tales.A visually driven record rich in meaning as it is in tone and instrumentation. “A Thousand Lonely Horses” was released on January 12th 2025 and it is already become an audience favorite.

Perhaps it’s his insatiable desire to create, his undeniable work ethic or his unrelenting desire for adventure and the details within that leads him to an utterly unique style of songwriting and composition. Elementary in nature but mature in sensibility. Vast in it’s array of genre and content. Much like life which is not naturally dominated by one thought or feeling, but a multitude of subtle nuances. Cam’s stories seem to reach out and activate the imagination. Transporting the listener to another time, place and frame of mind. His is a unique take on the various styles of American Roots Music, Western, Country, Folk, Rock, Blues and Americana. With Cam, everything has a spice of “Western”. Cam Pierce’s music isn’t just a “retro throwback sound”, it is something stylistically new, forged from the ore of the old.

As confessed previously Cam has an insatiable drive to create. He a prolific and unhinged writer with hundreds of record ready songs in his catalog being added to all the time. He has just began work on a “Songwriter’s Anthology” which, at least the first volume will be released in 2025 as a follow up to “A Thousand Lonely Horses”!

On top of these fitting releases there is also coming the release of an entirely “out of genre” Instrumental Album titled “Space Age Wild West”. Having caught a sample on our last visit, I can tell you with confidence the title is exactly how it sounds. A wild blend of Desert Rock, Spaghetti Western, Electronic Bass and Sound Score. It is a 10 track wild ride. A punctuating display of an Artist who’s traveled through many lands and lives. A mind that plays outside of expectations and demands. As if this wasn’t enough of a delivery, there are 3 new singles slated for release entitled “End Of Days”, “New Age Wilderness”, and “Doing Things My Way”. Powerful, pictures of a diverse artist. A departure from the Cam Pierce that fans know, but somehow still exactly what one would expect from an overactive and racing creative such as he is. A must listen. New frontiers of sonic bliss.

​“Music isn’t for sitting up on a shelf and there’s no right or wrong way to present a good song. The moment it’s written it has power, or it doesn’t. What good am I with all these songs that no one can listen to? So I’m putting them out with a little help from my friends.”

As far as the road stretches ahead. March, 2025 will see a string of dates throughout the midwest tethered to a run with the wonderful Ms. Sunny Sweeney. After supporting Sunny on a tour run through the Southeast earlier this year, he has been graciously invited back! The time in a more familiar area. Cam has been cultivating a following of bona fide folks in this Midwest for several years now and always looks forward to seeing his friends in the “middle”. On the schedule are dates in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Missouri and Arkansas. Keep an eye out and ahead for this guy. There’s no ego, no grandiose dream of fame and stardust in his brain. Just a love and a hungry passion to tell stories and exchange experiences with others through words, melody and the road. He is a songwriter, a teller of things, plain and simple. A man who works diligently at his craft. A man who is just as thrilled to share songs around a campfire as he is playing the Country Music Hall of Fame. A simple man with an extraordinary knack for music creation.

Alone with the rain soaking your notebook as you race to get a thought written down”.
