Long bio:
CoyoteBear is genre-fluid, member shifting brain child of Cody Hall. Cody was born in Houston, moving around the Midwest and South as a child until he landed in Lafayette, IN to stay.
Moving around may have contributed to the broad range of music he enjoyed growing up—rock, reggae, bluegrass, punk, rap, heavy metal—and that later influenced the songs of his Lafayette-based band, Traveling Broke and Out of Gas, as well as Coyotebear. Beginning in 2006 Cody has toured and recorded with Traveling Broke, Coyotebear and other indie bands from the Midwest and beyond, drove across the country in a painted school bus fueled by vegetable oil, and performed the riotous folk-rock anthems, bluesy ballads, and protest songs they dubbed Bastard Americana, which was also the title of their most recent album, released in 2018. Self-reliance, social justice, and a connection to the land were strong themes, expressed in the vivid, visceral, sweeping imagery of Cody’s lyrics.
