About
Jacob Kitchen, is an aspiring House Music producer, DJ, and long time musician. His life in music started at the age of 10 when he first picked up the guitar, and by the age of 13 playing the trumpet. Trumpet gave Jacob the foundation for reading and understanding music. At the age of 16, he joined his high school orchestra to later become the principle 1st chair violinist his sophomore through senior year . He was also involved in extracurricular activities such as Jazz Band, All State Jazz Band, Marching Band, and the Youth Symphony Philharmonic. After his cousin Alexa introduced him to the widely known French House group Daft Punk, Jacob started producing House Music December of 2010. Later in 2011, Jacob attended a local EDM event that named White Out, that attracted over 2000 people, afterwards he decided he also wanted to start DJing. The event was hosted by local production company Gnarly Shows, and the DJ’s were from local production company Funk You Inc, were absolutely phenomenal, introducing him to something he had never before witnessed in his entire life. The room was full of energy, emotion, and of course, banging hard funky beats! Each song blended piece by piece seamlessly as if each DJ was trying to tell their story with his favorite tracks. In 2012, Jacob was invited by Funk You Inc. to play Midwest Mayhem, headlined by Paul Anthony, Bryan Jones, Lady Raven, and Bizerk. A few months later, Jacob opened for the annual Plush/FYI Cinco De Mayo show featuring Bryan Jones, Hugh Cleal and Wattie Green. The exposure from these two shows opened up doors for him to play in larger cities like Detroit. Jacob has since played several events ranging in size and had his first release February 12th, on Midwest Hustle. His release “The Casino”, charted in the Traxsource Top 100 and peaked at 72. It is available on Traxsource, Stompy, and Beatport. 2013 and the years to come, have a lot to be seen from this young man!
