Joe Marcinek Band w/ The Kind Thieves @ The Mousetrap – Saturday, February 10th

Joe Marcinek Band is an ever evolving mixture of original compositions and incredible musicians. Each show has a slightly different lineup and interpretation. The music is a blend of jazz and funk with a cerebral emphasis on groove and improvisation.

Recently the JMB performed for ex president Bill Clinton’s Clinton Global Initiative at the Field Museum in Chicago. The group just finished a successful run with special guest keyboardist Steve Molitz from Particle and Phil Lesh and Friends. Other artists JMB has played with include, Jen Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), Allie Kral (Yonder Mountain String Band), Nick Gerlach (Cosby Sweater), Joe Hettinga (Digital Tape Machine / Strange Arrangement), Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band) – and many more.

Five core members of The Kind Thieves have kept the wheels greased and the train engine moving. Three founding members, Colby Elswick(Singer,Lead Guitar) Archibald Johnson(Singer, Acoustic Guitar) and Drew Shinhearts(Singer, Bass Guitar) captivate listeners with their distinct writing styles and refined talent. Classically trained and an incredibly talented musician, Christian Ray Tanzy(Keyboard, Trumpet), adds incredible texture and stage energy to TKT’s layered canvas with steady intention and subtle direction in his pocket. Colby captives the audience with his jaw dropping leads and screaming guitar licks. Drew serenades the audience with catchy song writing, emotional ballads and a confidence on stage that lights up the room.

Archie paints a picture with his words and tells a story through his music that leaves the audience wanting more.
