Summer Camp: On the Road – Saturday, February 25th

Hyryder is a Grateful Dead Tribute Band formed in Indianapolis, Indiana in the summer of 2008 and currently consists of Charlie Morgan (lead guitar and vocals), Nick Neureiter (drums and vocals), Eric Thompson (rhythm guitar and vocals), Scott Jackson (keyboard world and vocals) and Blair Ping (bass and vocals). The band was born out of an intense love and appreciation for the music of the Grateful Dead and a desire to help carry on this rich musical tradition.

Hyryder strives musically to create an authentic Grateful Dead experience, paying close attention to detail. While paying tribute to the original compositions, Hyryder indeed craft’s their own unique take on the music focusing on extended improvisational jamming. The band prides itself on its ever changing progressive jams and set lists that are unique to each particular show. Hyryder performs multiple night runs without ever repeating any material giving fans an intimately different experience each time they take the stage.

Disco. Metal. House. These three words form the mission statement adopted by the dance powerhouse experience that is Bad Dagger. Bursting onto the scene in 2012, Bad Dagger began with Cameron Reel (music production, synths and bass guitar) and Eddie Roodvoets (drums, samples, and triggers). This duo stunned and entertained audiences with there unique brand of Disco/Metal/House or Electrosexymetal, as their style has been called. Extremely danceable, this act has a tendency to switch gears without warning. This makes it possible to touch on a wide array of genres in each set. Bad Dagger makes use of this versatility with relentless passion and energy.

In the fall of 2016, Brice Jones (guitar) was added to the lineup. Without knowing how a guitar player would fit in with their style, Cameron and Eddie were immediately floored by the element that Brice brings to the music. Brice’s instincts and artistic taste were spot on right away, adding a crucial ands melodic balance to the band. Although they have similar influences in music, each member has a unique taste and sensibility. This helps add to the evolution of the unique brand of music they have developed.

Bad Dagger – The world’s original innovators of and only true source for pure, high-grade Electrosexymetal

800 lb. Gorilla is a college rock/jam band based in Bloomington, Indiana. With a rock and roll core, the band pulls together funk and jazz influences to create driving, catchy, danceable grooves. A five-piece band, 800lbG places rock-solid guitar, funky keyboards and sax on top of a drums-and-bass rhythm section. The interplay between musicians takes place on an improvisational plane that harkens Herbie Hancock, The Grateful Dead and Steely Dan.

Originally formed by brothers Mark (guitar) and Daniel (lead vox) Humphrey when they were in middle school, the band has evolved from a hard-rock power trio to a funk and jazz juggernaut. Since that time they have added Kwame Newton (keyboards/alto sax), Brian Carson (drums), and Joe Schweitzer (electric bass). As a group, you would be hard-pressed to find five more competent musicians.

800 lb. Gorilla has enjoyed a warm welcome from music lovers as they have developed their show on stages across Indiana and Ohio. Their fanbase is strongest among their college peers in Bloomington, and the jam band community throughout Central Indiana. They are fortunate to have been invited to play festivals this year including Hyperion, Good People Good Times, JorgStock (Eiteljorg Museum), and Taste of Bloomington.
The band intends to take the musical interplay higher, and continue to reach music lovers far and wide.

CALABASH began as a collaboration between two aspiring singer/songwriters in the heart of America’s music city, Nashville, Tennessee. Having formed the group with a shared determination for performing original music, the duo of Paul Wiemeier and Jarod Heim returned back to their home of Evansville, Indiana. As their music grew, so did the lineup. What was once a simple acoustic duo had become an onslaught of rhythm and melody. After years of gigging regionally and building up a fan base, CALABASH has risen to new heights:

Trying to throw CALABASH into a distinct genre or classify them is impossible. Their sound encompasses two lead singers, each with commanding vocals, yet, with pronounced differences in style and lyric. The rhythm and bass will keep you entranced, while the lead guitar will leave you begging for more. Their vast assemblage of percussion instruments is unrivaled and seldom seen with other performing acts in the region. All of these devices course together in what can only be personally described by each listener’s experience. With heartfelt lyrics about everyday life and the triumphs and tragedies within, fans are able to draw a connection between their own experiences and the soundtrack of CALABASH. A flowing mix of rock, blues, reggae, and folk is carefully woven into each original composition. Their musical library is fillled with creative, pulse pounding, body moving songs and each set list is tailored to the venue and crowd to which they are performing, so you will never hear the same set list twice.

Dizgo is a three-piece electro-psychedelic-funk-rock band from Bloomington, IN. Since their formation in 2016, the band has built a strong following, packing rooms and building a name for themselves in the jam circuit. Known for their electrifying performances, the band reels in their audience with a unique blend of funky, electronic rock – shredding guitar, synth driven grooves, and ethereal vocals.
