About

The New Old Cavalry

The New Old Cavalry offers today’s concert-goer an opportunity to take two steps back into the past and one large step into the future. We seek to turn every stage we play on into an event where sounds of varying backgrounds can intermingle and transform into a heart-felt, and unapologetically dynamic mash-up of hard-driving bluegrass, gospel-inspired harmonies, and psychedelic looseness. Its New, Its Old, its the Cavalry and we intend to take your foot-stompin’ and whiskey swiggin’ past the astral zone!

In a few short months, The New Old Cavalry has grown from a close-knit group of porch-jam regulars to rubbing elbows with bluegrass heavy-weights like Hot Buttered Rum, Cornmeal, Greensky Bluegrass, The Infamous Stringdusters, Devil’s Train, Bonepony, and more. We’ve recorded an EP and keep churning out original numbers, an anticipate our first full length album by the end of 1/2010.

Our music extends no further then all of the support we’ve received from our friends and rapidly growing family. We would not be here if it were not for all of you who open your homes to bluegrass jams at all hours of the night, amateur photographers, word-of-mouth promoters, street team, and all those who spread the word to friends.

If you’ve sat on a porch with us, you are part of the Cavalry too! If you’ve got an instrument, please play along. If you’ve got a song you want to sing, call the tune! If you want a party, we’d love to play at it.

onwards and upwards!

About

Henhouse Prowlers

Ten years in the making, Chicago’s Henhouse Prowlers have built a reputation for hard work and non-stop touring, playing music inspired by the roots of bluegrass while branching out into a sound uniquely their own. From lightning fast picking, to sentimental ballads—playing storied original material, traditional songs, and contemporary covers—The Prowlers’ live show leaves no one wanting.

Their most recent album “Breaking Ground” grew out of collaboration and time well spent, having completed it within months of multiple cross-country US tours and the band’s third trip to Europe. Produced by Greg Cahill (Grammy nominated band-leader of Special Consensus), with special guests Josh Williams (of Rhonda Vincent and the Rage) and Anders Beck (of Greensky Bluegrass), this recording packs punch after punch.

The band recently performed with the US State Department on two separate trips in five different countries in Central and West Africa,  as well as heading back to Europe in the spring of 2014 for their largest tour abroad to date. The Prowlers continue to push the envelope with their highly original songwriting, tight arrangements, and electrifying stage presence. With the bluegrass mantle on their shoulders and the best fans in the world by their side, The Henhouse Prowlers are here to stay for a long, long time.

About

Flatland Harmony Experiment

Flatland Harmony Experiment is a high octane three piece vocally driven string band from Indianapolis Indiana. Flatland Harmony Experiment dances with a single large diaphragm condenser microphone to share their music with audiences. FHE’s music and stage show drips with intensity and passion and it is easy to tell they love what they do. The trio trades lead vocal and lead instrumental responsibilities through a large and diverse original musical pallet. The instrumental mix of mandolin, banjo, and upright bass allows ample space for musical experimentation and expression. Song craft is very important to FHE. Stylistically you can expect Flatland Harmony Experiment’s original music to flow from tunes that echo the founding roots of bluegrass to progressive gypsy and all places in between. Conscious lyrics, a thread of harmony, and instrumental virtuosity permeates all of the original music of the Flatland Harmony Experiment. This band dares to be labeled simply as bluegrass or americana.

Since its beginnings in 2011 the Flatland Harmony Experiment has played over 1000 dates to enthusiastic audiences numbering into the thousands for people all across the country. FHE was excited to be given the very high honor of being selected as a finalist in the 2013 40th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition. This allowed FHE to play for thousands on the main stage of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. In 2016 FHE was also honored to support Bernie Sanders for his downtown Indianapolis rally to a crowd of 8000 enthusiastic supporters.

In six years FHE has earned a large audience with their music. Flatland Harmony Experiment has had over 1000 downloads from radio programmers around the globe supporting their three original recordings and physical sales of recordings number well into the thousands as well. 2018 looks to keep the band moving. FHE rigorously continues to play 100’s of dates across the country and with key festival performances including the John Hartford Memorial Festival, and Merlefest. FHE is also wrapping up their fourth full length studio project and expects to release and begin tour support for the project in the spring/summer.

  • “Hailing from different backgrounds in the music industry, they are rock-solid players and vocalists who bring their experience and maturity together to create a uniquely organic musical landscape. Playing each show like their last, this is a project that must be experienced.”

About

Bones Jugs N Harmony

Bones, Jug, Xylophone, kazoos, steel pan resonator guitar, banjo, double bass, drums, all sorts of noise makers. These are just some of the instruments we play around with at our shows. The group began with the dream of throwing an energetic party with acoustic instruments, a high quality, clearly audible musical experience that could be had on street corners, on the beach, in living rooms, or amplified in a club.

We started with some old xylophone rags, featuring Cody Jensen, and have since built a large repertoire of originals and covers, old and new. As old as Leroy Carr’s “Barrelhouse Women”, Memphis Jugband’s “Sugar Puddin’”, and the classic “Salty Dog Blues,” and as new as the Beastie Boys’ “Girls,” Bone Thugs N Harmony’s “Crossroads,” and Abigail Washburn’s “Divine Bell.” We are highly influenced by jugbands and string bands, both new and old. We also perform calypso tunes featuring Tim Berg on steel pan, Mississippi John Hurt tunes featuring the guitar work of JP Goguen, and a slew of bluegrass standards and not-so-standards. With our extensive collection of instruments, our large spectrum of influences, and our quirky and thoughtful songwriting we embark on our journey of creating a new sound to share with all who will lend an ear.

We pride ourselves on being seriously silly, it’s a commitment to fun. We want to party. We want, we want to party. With you. And your friends. And other people that neither of us know. We’re hoping we can all dance till we fall down, sing till our voices cannot be found, and smile till our faces fall off. Bones.

About

Future Rock

Chicago’s electronic rock stalwarts Future Rock continue to pound out pulsating beats with the verocity of a 70′s era rock band. Outside of hometown Chicago, they may be best known for high profile and excellent remixes of Daft Punk, Neon Indian, Black Moth Super Rainbow and DFA 1979. Back home they are justly celebrated for legendary performances such as their set at Wicker Park Fest that turned the entire neighborhood into a vast and energized dance floor, forcing even the palest and most resolutely hard-to-impress hipsters to call up their inner dance monsters. Live performances combine loops, samples and Mickey Kellerman’s keyboards with Darren Heitz’s drums plus Felix Moreno’s Larry Graham-style bass slapping to create an enormously powerful groove. Their light show is as good as their music, and their set have been known to inspire dance frenzies.

About

Terrapin Flyer

Terrapin Flyer began in 1999 as the house band for the Sunday Grateful Dead Jam at the Boulevard Cafe in Chicago. Through the many associations developed there and many that have continued since, the band has grown into one of the premier Grateful Dead inspired touring acts in the nation. The band draws from the a variety of skilled musicians including Grateful Dead keyboardists Tom Constanten, Bob Bralove and Vince Welnick (RIP). They also tour with Jerry Garcia Band organist Melvin Seals and Ratdog guitarist Mark Karan. Additionally, they have done one off shows with guest musicians such as grammy award winning blues harpist Sugar Blue, guitar prodigy Fareed Haque, Furthur guitarist John Kadlecik and musician, songwriter and music journalist David Gans. The band has headlined major festivals and prominent venues across the nation.

From the band’s humble beginnings sprang forth an ever growing network of musicians. From a loosely associated group of musicians at a jam night, a band began to develop. The original band came into fruition when they were asked to perform with Grateful Dead keyboardist (1990-1995) Vince Welnick on a cable access television show and festival in Madison, WI. After that the band continued to tour with Welnick and performed several times as “Vince Welnick and Friends including headlining the 2004 Dunegrass Festival in Empire, MI to several thousand in attendance. After several tours with Vince Welnick, the band was ready to move on to its next potent association.

dunegrass4An 8 day tour was planned in 2004 with Melvin Seals the consummate B3 organist of the Jerry Garcia Band for 15 years. The tour was enough fun for Melvin to recognize that this band could perform under the name JGB on it’s next tour and performed to packed houses under the JGB name on another short tour a bit later in the year. From there several shows were performed with that band as Melvin Seals and Friends. After a decade, the partnership with Melvin Seals and Terrapin Flyer continues today and features the band digging deeply into the JGB catalog and sometimes also includes Ratdog guitarist Mark Karan and Tom Constanten as well.

Vince Welnick passed away in 2006. Tom Constanten first performed with Terrapin Flyer shortly after Vince’s passing on the “Vince Welnick Memorial Tour” to celebrate Vince’s memory. The association with Constanten produced several additional tours including performing as Tom Constanten and Friends on occasion. The pairing of Terrapin Flyer and Constanten continues presently and interprets the era that he performed in the Grateful Dead from 1968 – 1970.

In 2009 Terrapin Flyer began performing with Grateful Dead midi-wizard Bob Bralove. Bralove who produced and co-wrote songs on the Grateful Dead’s Infrared Roses album was the proverbial man behind the curtain of the Grateful Dead’s legendary drums and space segments. During this part of the Grateful Dead shows from 1987-1995, Bralove was playing sampled strange and beautiful sounds on a keyboard behind the stage. After the demise of the Grateful Dead, Bralove joined Tom Constanten to perform tours and record several albums as the band Dose Hermanos. Terrapin Flyer has explored deepest space with Bob Bralove on keyboards as well as performing shows with both members of Dose Hermanos together on stage.

Most recently in 2011, the band has been touring with Grateful Dead family lead guitarist Mark Karan. Mark was the lead guitarist for the post-Grateful Dead band which featured all the former members The Other Ones. He also performed for 12 years in founding member of the Grateful Dead Bob Weir’s band Ratdog. Recently Mark has been consistently performing with Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh at his new concert venue Terrapin Crossroads.

1Today Terrapin Flyer performs with a lineup that continues to bring in new guest musicians, nationally recognized artists and mix up various members from its history to create new and intriguing musical dynamics to each show performed. Other members of the band include current and former members of Cornmeal Wavy Dave Burligame, Kris Nowak and JP Nowak. Jimmy Tebeau and Dave Hebert from Melvin Seals JGB and many other prominent players in the Grateful Dead extended family.

From a jam night to a nationally performing headlining band, through time the resume of the band Terrapin Flyer has indeed become impressive. The band has headlined such prominent festivals as The Dunegrass Festival in Empire, MI, The Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Nelson, OH, The Highberry Festival in Ozark, AR, The Whippersnap Festival in Earlville, IL , Jam Along the Creek in Millmont, PA, The Grateful Garcia Gathering and the Field Trip Festival in South Elgin, IL. Additionally, the band has headlined major venues such as the House of Blues Chicago, Martyrs’, The Traverse City Opera House in Michigan, The Kinetic Playground, 23 East in Ardmore, PA, The Met in Pawtucket, RI, The Shrine in Tulsa, OK, The Mousetrap in Indianapolis, IN, Diamond Concert Hall in Louisville, KY, The Royal Oak Theater in Michigan, Quixotes in Denver, CO, The Rave in Milwaukee, Shank Hall in Milwaukee, SPACE in Evanston, Founder’s Brewing in Grand Rapids, the The Old Rock House in St Louis, MO amongst many others.

So what or who is Terrapin Flyer? As you have likely surmised that is not simple to define. What is at the core of fundamentals of the band is the idea that the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia’s music still has plenty of life in it and that the music being so improvisational in nature can and should go to new places in each performance. No two Terrapin Flyer shows will ever be the same and you never know who might show up to jam at a show, but you can always count on a great time with some of the most recognized artists in the music community.

About

Eumatik

Eumatik is a living, trance-inducing, funk-blasting, dance mechanism that stimulates the mind by being harmonically innovative and experimental, yet easily accessible in the conventions of modern electronica. What makes their approach to music so interesting is their ability to allure the listener with catchy hooks, slowly lead them outside their accustomed musical boundaries by means of developing harmony, and finally bring them back within a single composition. This is accomplished by fusing a diverse variety of musical techniques that range from jazz theory to 18th century counterpoint. Although their music is thoroughly composed, it contains lengthy sections of improvisation that make every live show unique. Eumatik brings elements of hip hop, funk, trance, jazz, dubstep and disco into ideas that reorder the perception of its own genre-based facade by tastefully covering an incredibly large range of musical concepts. Another important aspect that contributes to their thumb-print sound is their mix of vintage keyboards with ultra-modern sound design and synthesis.

As much of their time off-stage is spent organizing and maintaining a focused outlook on each composition, Eumatik is constantly looking for fresh and innovative ways to use music technology as a tool for improvisation. When they’re on-stage, they strive to keep the crowd dancing while making sure everything is melodically and harmonically interesting at the same time. While performing, the overall form and direction is controlled by Josh Lockwood, who utilizes Abelton Live along with an Akai MPK and APC. Jazz pianist, Ashton Kleemann, is constantly playing signature parts on various keyboards along with a MIDI-keyboard that Josh runs Ableton effects through. This MIDI-keyboard directly interacts with what is being played live to create a bizarre and unique atmosphere of band member communication. Mix in the organic sounds of their live drummer, Derek Shelton, and you hear the UFO-summoning, twist-bopping, trance-inducing, disco-fever-catching sounds that are Eumatik.

About

Rumpke Mountain Boys

Cincinnati, OH’s Rumpke Mountain Boys craft a signature blend of bluegrass so unique it has it’s own name – Trashgrass. With acoustic guitar, mandolin, upright bass and banjo, the award winning jamgrass group has traveled the country for the past decade gaining faithful followers everywhere they perform. A favorite in the music festival circuit and winner of Cincinnati Entertainment Awards Best Bluegrass Band seven years running, Rumpke Mountain Boys are known for their intense live performances where every show is a party. Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon put it best, stating that the band is a “party waiting to happen.” With influences ranging from Jimmy Cliff, The Grateful Dead and Tom Waits to the more traditional Osborne Brothers and Stanley Brothers, the Rumpke Mountain Boys leave no genre of music untouched, and each show is unique with no prepared setlist.

In 2013 Rumpke Mountain Boys released Moon, a follow up to 2012’s widely popular Trashgrass, and have continued to be a major draw at music festivals across the country, with performances at Suwanee Springfest, Northwest String Summit, Dark Star Jubilee, just to name a few. They also played a run of shows in Jamaica and have toured extensively with Grateful Dead Hour host David Gans, who proclaimed, “One of the things I love about the RMB is that there’s a fundamental honesty in their presentation. This is something they share with my other heroes, Donna the Buffalo and the Grateful Dead. They don’t make set lists ahead of time, they don’t rehearse their songs to a fare-thee-well: they perform in real time. All four of them write, which is very important, and they draw songs from a tremendous variety of sources… Being a musician is a life-long learning experience, if you’re doing it right, and they are. “

Despite all of the accolades, Rumpke Mountain Boys remain one of the most fan-friendly bands in the industry due to their renegade sets and infamous campfire tours, where the band travels campsite to campsite, many times picking until dawn with a hoard of faithful followers in tow. Their drive, dedication, and desire to play good music together shines through in their performances, whether they be on a stage in front of thousands of music fans or around a campfire with a group of friends. Rumpke Mountain Boys continue to bring their loose, fun, genre-defying trashgrass sound to the ears of music fans throughout the country.

About

Turkuaz

Credible bios are supposed to be objective and not full of superlatives and hyperbole, but it’s hard to avoid gushing when the subject is a funk army of multi-instrumentals and singers that is part freight train and part tyrannosaurus rex, who—even on an off night—can blow away a room on the basis of sheer physics alone. That’s one way to describe Turkuaz, but it doesn’t address the music. In this regard, as with any band, influences are everything. One cannot escape them as one seeks to carve out a unique sound for themselves. Still, there are so many benefits to having Sly & The Family Stone, Rick James, Parliament and Bohannon in your record collection. With this as the basis for a recipe, Turkuaz adds healthy doses of jittery, world-pop-power groove—reminiscent of Remain In Light era Talking Heads—and a passion for Motown and R&B, resulting in a refreshing twist on the funk idiom.

Turkuaz certainly does have sheer size in their favor, but when broken down into the basic components, each stands out on their own. Founders Dave Brandwein and Taylor Shell had the cream of the crop to choose from at Berklee, but making it happen as a large touring ensemble takes more than chops: it takes the right blend of personalities. When Turkuaz takes the stage, the chemistry is clear. The special combination of elements—singers in sequined dresses, guys in tails (or sometimes all of them in jumpsuits or other complimentary outfits) horns, keys, guitars, amps and drums and smiles all around… well, it’s easy to get caught up in the explosive auditory and visual circus and find oneself dancing. Despite all of the gear and people on stage, it becomes clear that it is not the size that matters here: it is the performance.

About

Antik One

Antik One was first introduced to the world of electronic music in the remote desert of Tucson, AZ in the late 90s. The ground shook with the bass, drawing him in and embedding in his soul like a nasty piece of jumping cactus. Flashing lights and the heavens above danced with him as found his second family in the rave community. Inspired by chance encounters with DJs Radar and Z-Tip during his first party that just happened to be a Moon Tribe event, Antik One set about to shape the sounds that would continue to breath life into the rave community like a mother’s womb. West Coast Drum & Bass, breaks, acid house and goa-trance would provide the soundtrack to the rest of his time in AZ. Once transplanted to Indiana, Antik found support from fellow deck warriors Seth & Mac at Evolving Records. Like many aspiring musician, Antik spent years honing his craft and developing his skills before his sound was ready for the masses. Starting in 2012 he began playing small shows around Indianapolis at The Melody Inn and The Emerson Theater. While Drum & Bass is Antik One’s passion, he has been exploring a wider variety of chilled out, flow-friendly tunes including electro-swing and the bouncier sounds of tech house and breaks. The results are mood altering, expanding ,and complimenting. The only thing they won’t do is fail to move your feet.

About

Erin Zindle & The Ragbirds

Led by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Erin Zindle, The Ragbirds are a group of eclectic-global-folk-rock musicians based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Like a mix tape made by a well-traveled friend, The Ragbirds music is diverse and foreign, yet somehow familiar. The voice at the front of The Ragbirds carries the freshness of the journey itself, and the lyrics point out the scenery like a friendly tour guide.

Led by dynamic, multi-instrumentalist front-woman Erin Zindle, The Ragbirds create music that is equally danceable, intelligent and vulnerable – a rare combination in an increasingly marketing-driven industry. Since 2005 they have gathered and maintained a passionate, grassroots fan base by continually reinventing themselves with an ever-evolving sound, while remaining rooted in the high-energy, world-inspired folk-rock that they have become known for.

With a genre-bending hybrid of indie-pop melodies, global-infused beats, rock guitar riffs and folk sensibilities, this is music that comes to life on stage. Every concert leaves each listener in a higher place than when it began. The Ragbirds are constant travelers, impressed upon by a global consciousness, with lyrics that point to the daily paradox of intentionally cultivating hope in the midst of a crazed and jaded world.

The sweet energetic charm of lead singer Erin Zindle demands attention. She is the songwriter and front woman of the band, skillfully switching between violin, kalimba, piano and percussion, dancing the whole while. Zindle carries an infectious smile and her voice is both earthy and ethereal at the same time. The guitar solos, played by Erin’s brother T.J. Zindle, point to a longtime appreciation for rock and roll. T.J. is an energetic force, armed with both electric and acoustic guitars, playing each with grit and intensity. Shannon Wade (bass) and Loren Kranz (drums) make up the rhythm section. Both are dynamic masters of their instruments and together they make a tight-knit groove factory over which Erin & TJ can improvise with ease.

The Ragbirds began with Erin and Randall Moore. They started their relationship busking on the streets of Ann Arbor with Celtic and gypsy fiddling over tricky beats of tambourine, Middle-Eastern doumbek and tabla. In 2005 the duo gathered three band mates and began to record Erin’s original songs. This recording was released a few months later as The Ragbirds debut album “Yes Nearby”. Randall was not only a foundational member of the band, percussionist, and tour manager, but he also helped to shape the band’s early sound with percussion instruments and beats from all around the world. In 2013 the couple had a baby girl and the band toured across the country as a family with a road nanny for a few years. In 2018 Randall decided to leave the band to pursue his drum making business and he continues to perform as a percussionist with many other projects, occasionally making guest appearances with The Ragbirds.

Erin has increasingly stepped up and forward with each incarnation of the band, gaining poise, confidence and balance with each step. Her songwriting has always been the central focus of her art. As a serious disciple of the craft she has been a songwriting instructor at Interlochen Arts Camp and has led many songwriting workshops and classes.

With a change of cast in 2019, the band is shifting its weight from what used to be a heavier percussive foundation to place the focus more on the melodic components. The rhythms are not less integral but simpler, leaving room for the songs to breathe and for the vocals to take on the spotlight. Now equipped with four vocalists the band is diving into the textures they can create with vocal harmonies, and exploring the newly-created space with instrumental curiosity, adding more improvisational elements in to the otherwise tight arrangements.

Show by show, in venues ranging from rock clubs and performing arts centers to music festivals The Ragbirds have developed a well-deserved reputation as one of the most dynamic, high-spirited live bands in roots music.

The Ragbirds’ albums have received local and national praise, hailed “Highly impressive!” by USA Today and touted as “Astounding international eclecticism” by Reveal Arts. The band has performed in 47 states, averaging 150 shows a year and they have become festival favorites, winning over crowds at festivals such as: Electric Forest/Rothbury, Wheatland, Blissfest, Green Room Festival (Yokohama Japan), MerleFest, 10,000 Lakes, SXSW, CMJ Music Marathon, Summer Camp, Wookiefoot’s Harvest Fest & Project Earth, Hoxeyville, Ann Arbor Folk Festival, Hookahville, Great Blue Heron, Floyd Yoga Jam, Hiawatha, Dark Star Jubilee, MoeDown, String Break/Riverhawk, Rhythm & Blooms and many more.

They have shared stages as direct support for Brandi Carlile, Rusted Root, Matisyahu, Greensky Bluegrass, Railroad Earth, John Butler Trio, Birds of Chicago, Dawes, The Steel Wheels, Dumpstaphunk, Donna the Buffalo, The Werks, Elephant Revival, The Black Lillies, Toubab Krewe, Wookiefoot, Cornmeal, Hot Buttered Rum, Jeff Daniels, Lindsay Lou, Billy Strings, The Duhks, and many others. They have also been members of The Everyone Orchestra nearly a dozen times.

Based in Indianapolis, IN, Bad Dagger is currently comprised of 2 members. Cameron Reel provides live audio production (synths, basses, pads, leads via Ableton/ MacBook Pro) as well playing bass guitar. On drum set and sample pad, Eddie Roodvoets provides an intense and nonstop energy to the music. Extremely danceable and cinematic, this act has a tendency to switch gears without warning, making it possible to touch on a wide array of genres in each set. They make use of this versatility with relentless passion and vigor.

Their blend of musical genres is indeed unique. Nothing sounds like Bad Dagger. Monumental and sublime at times, then hard, dark and anchored at others. A typical Bad Dagger set is certainly wide in scope, touching on elements of Electro, House, Metal, Prog, Funk, Disco, and Big Beat. These elements and more combine in such a way that Bad Dagger leaves each audience member with a sense of having an experience rather than just having seen a concert.

About

Max Allen Band

Max Allen Band (MAB) is the brainchild and workhorse of singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer Max Allen. Performing professionally since the age of 16, Allen got his start by selling home recordings out of a lunchbox at school, later making waves as an upcoming blues guitar prodigy. Some thirteen years later, he has grown into a seasoned performer and composer whose tastes have evolved to include the very best of funk, rock, blues, pop, jazz, reggae, classical, EDM and hip-hop. For over a decade, Allen and MAB have kept audiences all over the country coming back for more of the wide variety of genres, incredible musicianship, thoughtful lyrics and contagious melodies that each show brings. Max Allen has six studio albums and thousands of performances to his credit, and he is still going strong.

Armed with a newly solidified lineup that features more talent than ever before, Max Allen Band is proud to present its 2013 release, Everyone Thinks You’re Weird. The album features many new territories for the band, from bassist Dace Robie’s lush string quartet arrangements to drummer Shaan France’s layered percussion to Max Allen’s most sophisticated and exciting solo work to date. ETYW also features additional keys and synths from composer/producer Gary Mielke and vocals by Midwest hip-hop favorite Rusty Redenbacher.

Another exciting new feature of ETYW is the songwriting team that is Allen and Robie, whose diverse backgrounds and tastes complement each other wonderfully. The album creates a journey through contrasts: light to dark, catchy to complex, and old school to fresh and new. Max Allen keeps listeners guessing with a recording that features everything from pop to progressive rock to dubstep to calypso and more, all the while bringing out Max Allen’s signature vocal and guitar sound. ETYW is the culmination of a rich musical past for MAB and marks the beginning of a bright new era of music making for the band.

About

Genome

Genome is a unique blend of organic funk and psychedelic jams with jazz, world, and electronic music. These Chicago based musicians utilize an array of many instruments, both acoustic and electronic, to create an ecstatic dance party that transcends time, space, and earthly boundaries.

Genome is a group of musicians that came together in the winter of 2010. The idea was to put together a diverse group of musicians, each bringing a unique perspective and style, to create a rich tapestry of sound and color. Blending elements of jazz and improvised rock together with the tightly knit layers of funk and the dance floor sensibilities of the DJ/Rave culture, the mix proved explosive and intoxicating, all while floating atop an eclectic array of worldbeat grooves.

The band deftly combines organic improvisation and audience interaction with mind bending electronic sound manipulation, adding an entirely new dimension to the labyrinth of melody, harmony and rhythm. The music of Genome acts as a gateway to a new freedom of mind and spirit through the ritual of music, dance, and Dionysian celebration. Genome is not about the members of the band alone, but rather, the love and community of its supporters and friends combined with the knowledge that we are all connected through the power of music. The band makes the music, the people dance to the music, and everyone gets lifted together!

About

Fresh Hops

Fresh Hops is a 4 piece original jam band from Northwest Indiana. The band formed in March 2008 as a musical improvisational outlet among friends. Now Fresh Hops has evolved into a captivating, high energy live act. The group has seen numerous line ups and instrumentations that have lead to an ecclectic mix of sounds and atmospheres. As writers and performers Fresh Hops constantly blurs the lines between genres and style, often during the course of a single song. That “anything goes” attitude has tranlated to a stage show that remains fresh and fun from show to show. The realization that jazz, classic soul, bluegrass, classical, metal and progressive jam rock can all shake hands and play nice has guided them to create remarkable tunes from an ever-expanding palette.

About

The Mantras

The Mantras, a six piece jam machine born of Greensboro, NC have been conquering crowds and melting minds all over the country progressively for 10 years. The band’s music can be described with all types of varying rock and roll terminology, but is absolutely best defined by each listener’s ear and, equally important, their experience. The Mantras are a family of rock; their closely knit bonds can truly be felt by the crowd whilst the band performs. This is a critical feature of their community. One can easily tell that the musical pockets created by the likes of dueling guitars, gut checked baselines, screeching synthesizers, a complete projection light show and two incredibly symbiotic drummers are no accident. This group of people knows each other and the musical conversation on stage is simply beautiful to watch. The feeling is not exclusive just to the members on stage. The Mantras’ loyal fan base can testify to the reciprocation of love between performer and attendee, a concert feature which can absolutely lock The Mantras into a new listeners’ brain, and shortly after forever into their rolodex of favorite bands. In a scene where it is sometimes difficult to stabilize a fan base and a consistent identity, The Mantras’ music is transcendent. It has all of the ebbs and flows, peaks and valleys and patterns of constriction and release that can hook someone for life. Each show is a story. Each story is unique.
In addition to the collaborative element between band and fans, The Mantras have shared the stage with some of the foremost titans of jam. Their most recent studio release, entitled Jam Bands Ruined My Life was recorded at Umphrey’s McGee, axe man Jake Cinniger’s home studio, where Jake is featured on two tracks. Shortly thereafter recording, The Mantras opened for and shared the stage with Umphrey’s McGee members while performing the thumping single entitled, “Kinetic Bump.” In addition, The Mantras have collaborated with members of The String Cheese Incident, Tea Leaf Green, and Perpetual Groove among many others. The year 2013 saw The Mantras play over 180 shows, culminating in their annual Mantrabash music and arts festival, held in the beautiful back country of Ferguson, NC.
The festival stands as a testament to the loyalty of the fan base and the engagement of The Mantras within their local, regional, and national music communities. Attended by thousands, Mantrabash has become the landing spot for live music fans from all over the country to enjoy the hard work and dedication of The Mantras in addition to the other stellar musicians who appear over the 4 days.

About

Jimkata

Jimkata’s innovative, fan-funded record Die Digital turned the heads of critics and musicians when it dropped in the Fall of 2012, solidifying the band’s reputation as forward-thinking artists to pay attention to. Jimkata’s refined electro-rock sound is one of a band that has found its voice after years of experimentation; It’s more indie rock than jam, and more 90′s electronica than modern day EDM; yet the five-piece appeals to each of these audiences. In the spirit of LCD Soundsystem, MGMT and Talking Heads, Jimkata’s relevant, quotable lyrics create moods not just for fleeting moments, but for the lifestyle of an entire generation.

Following the release of their first live record 10 More Songs! (2013), Jimkata is poised to unveil their third studio EP and sixth official release Feel In Light on 3.4.14. Recorded with Die Digital producer Jocko Randall at his MoreSound Studios in Syracuse, NY Feel In Light represents the continued evolution of this modern rock band’s sound – one which will be simpler in essence – exploring themes of love, triumph and appreciating second chances in life.

A staple of the festival circuit from the Rockies to the Atlantic, Jimkata’s 2013 schedule included heavy hitters like Gathering of The Vibes, Summer Camp, Catskill Chill and Rootwire, on top of hosting their very own inaugural festival, Katalyst. Fans can catch the band this winter on their extensive national tour taking them up and down the east coast and to Colorado.

“Jimkata proves that rock-based music still has a place in the world of four-on-the-floor beats.”

Relix Magazine

“The band’s powerful drumming and guitar work ride the same wave, catching synthetic high fives and whispering rock n’ roll lyricism out over the constant current of their sonic ocean.”

Performer Magazine

“What this generation needs more of, a band with a fresh sound that’s influenced by great music, with an honest and positive perspective about our place in society.”

A Live One

A Live One began in December of 2010 by guitarist Josh Pearson and drummer Dan McGreevy of the band Moving Matter. As time turned elastic, the line up evolved to Wesley Haynes on keyboards, Andy Harn on Bass and Alan Eckert on drums. Being huge fans of Phish and heavily influenced by them, the band found it very exciting recreating their music. Soon realizing the difficulty of the music, A Live One rises to the challenge, striving to create a similar experience to the real thing, on a much smaller level.

About

Native Sun

They call our city Nap because it’s the most slept-on city in America.

This is Native Sun’s answer to the question of how Indianapolis came to be nicknamed Nap Town. All too often, Indy locals lose faith in the spirit of their city and insist it’s named so because it’s a sleepy metropolis in the Midwest with nothing to do or see. This cultural crippling has subdued the drive to create in much of the city’s talent by bogging down artists with despair and leaving them with little hope for a chance to gain national recognition.

But the native sons of Native Sun have a different outlook on their city of Nap. It is their belief that Indianapolis harbors a wealth of talent, particularly in the vein of hip hop. Leading by example, the band envisions that traditional hip hop elements (compelling lyricism, dusty samples, dope beats) paired with the versatility of live instrumentation has the potential to create music that sounds like nothing before it.

Leveraging more than 20 years of combined experience as professional musicians and performers, B Meeks (bass), Sleepy (drums) and B Young (emcee) began to intertwine their musical backgrounds within the context of hip hop when Native Sun formed in 2008. The resourceful musicians draw from their familiarity in gospel, rock, electronic, jazz and soul, creating music that sounds much bigger than what one would expect from a 3 piece act. It is this solid foundation in live music (as compared to produced beats) that sets Native Sun apart from other hip hop groups.

Through their vision to be an example of success to artists in Indianapolis and similar places, Native Sun has earned a reputation as a first call backing band in the Indianapolis hip hop scene. They’ve had the honor of performing with Elzhi of Slum Village and DJ Logic, as well as opening for Foreign Exchange, Musiq Soulchild, Mayer Hawthorne, Black Milk and Muhsinah. After putting in more than 30 hours of grinding in the studio, Native Sun released its full-length debut album, Step Into The Light in August of 2012. Continuing to further push their creative limits, the band looks forward to releasing, The Undeniable EP and subsequent tour to follow in the Spring and Summer of 2014.

About

Desert Dwellers

Desert Dwellers consists of Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, each of whom began their careers as independent music producers and DJs in the deserts of New Mexico and California. Coming together in the late 1990s after connecting through the Moontribe events in the deserts outside Los Angeles, today the duo enjoys a reputation as one of the most pioneering and prolific downtempo acts in the United States. Their collaborative power has resulted in numerous full-length albums, remix projects for other artists, and EPs for labels like Black Swan, Twisted, and their own label Desert Trax, among many others.

After the initial success of their “DownTemple Dub” series, the Desert Dwellers have spent the past three years at some of the most prominent international music festivals. In 2014, the pair embarked on a massive 7 week tour across the United States opening for world renowned Twisted Records artist Shpongle, then quickly followed up with a full summer of festivals including Boom (Portugal), Shambhala (Canada), Atmosphere (Israel), Burning Man, Coachella, and countless others across North America. They are currently finishing a new album called “The Great Mystery” which will be released in early 2015, and planning extensive touring through Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Europe, North America, and Canada in 2015 to support that record and bring joy to dance floors across the globe.

Taking a new approach on digital production, Amani & Treavor have combined the raw sounds of the natural world while skillfully blended deep bass, earthy percussion, etheric voices and cross-cultural instrumentation into sonic incense for the mind and body. With this blend of sounds they provide listeners with a heightened sense of connection through their musical soundscapes. Desert Dwellers are one of the foremost influences in a genre that they have been “instrumental” in developing. Blending a variety of sources, their compositions form a heavily weaved set of sounds that have allowed them to establish themselves beyond their home base and around the world.

Bringing the electronic music vibe to the yoga scene, and the sounds of yoga to the electronic dance scene, Desert Dwellers’ global sounds are the bridge between the worlds of dance and movement. Joining solid groove with sounds of serenity, their signature aesthetic feels as natural on the dance floor as it does after hours or on the mat. Due in no small part to Desert Dwellers’ pioneering spirit, the borders of Downtempo music has expanded dramatically. These sound alchemists offer modern techniques that blend the edge of electronica with ancient sounds, offering a spellbinding hybrid with echoes of our past and future. The result has been the prolific production of genre blending dance tracks and chill-out grooves that make for truly memorable listening experiences.

About

3:1 Three To One

Born from elements of a musical family tree that spans many styles and many miles, THREE TO ONE began rehearsals in the Winter of 2010 with the idea of picking up a few gigs around the Midwest, maybe some clubs, maybe some black-tie jazz gigs, whatever.

Then something special happened.
It was a sound; hard to describe, but easy to dig. A sound that can change as quick as a cat, yet somehow remain very special and identifiable.

2011 came and went, and with it the dozens of gigs that helped to forge the core of the band’s sound, sending THREE TO ONE into 2012 with momentum, direction, and invaluable stage time doing everything from backing up solo artists and vocal groups to instrumental jazz for black tie events to full-blown rock festival shows.

A commitment to let the band develop organically has produced great results so far. THREE TO ONE often collaborates with local and regional artists for special shows, all the while building a maintaining an impressive list of venues, clients, and accomplishments. Equally at home doing acoustic shows at local wineries, hot sets at clubs and festivals, or intimate house concerts, THREE TO ONE want to extend an open invitation to everyone – young or old, no matter what music you love, rich or poor, dog or cat; to join us on the journey.
Praise for 3:1

About

Captain Midnight Band

The Captain Midnight Band plays “Waterbed Rock & Roll”, a unique hybrid of Classic Rock, Jam, R&B, and blue poetry.

The Captain Midnight Band creates “Water Bed Rock & Roll” for the mind, booty, and soul. Crunchy Rock Guitar, Soaring Vocal Harmonies, and thick R&B grooves create a sonic landscape for the band’s suggestive, Sci-Fi imagery and improvisational interplay.

Formed in New Orleans in 2002, The Captain Midnight Band stays true to the Crescent City’s celebratory heritage, turning every show into a sweating, throbbing event, interspersed with humor, eroticism, and inspired jams.

Flattering comparisons to genre-defying acts such as P-Funk, Frank Zappa, and Ween are evident in the relationship between band and audience. Striking visuals and an ever-changing set list keep fans coming back for more.

Midnight’s style has infiltrated a variety of musical realms. Bob Weir, moe., Merl Saunders, Dumpstaphunk, Galactic, Cornmeal, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Cypress Hill, Jimmy Herring Band, Dark Star Orchestra, Emmitt-Nershi Band, New Mastersounds, and The 2 Live Crew are just a few musical entities Midnight has either shared the stage or bills with.

About

Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad

Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad (GPGDS) is known for folding the aesthetics of the jamband scene into the structures of reggae. In the live setting, the band performs extended jams, while their previous studio albums have blended roots reggae with psychedelia (In These Times, 2012) or diverged from the genre completely, journeying into straight Americana (Country, 2012). On STEADY, the band’s fourth studio album (and first on Easy Star Records), GPGDS has synthesized their approach by weaving traditional folk instrumentation into a foundation of reggae, with arrangements that let the reggae breathe in a non-traditional way. While STEADY may not be the first record to find inspiration in both old time Appalachia and ‘70s Jamaica, it may be the best.

Much of STEADY’s power comes from the attention put into the recording process. Craig Welsch (one of the key players in 10 Ft. Ganja Plant) invited the band to his Boston studio, with the intention of “capturing an aspect of Panda that no one had ever heard yet, something totally different.” This rings true on tracks like “Wolf At The Door” and “.45.” Bassist-singer James Searl jokes that the band “has always followed John Brown’s Body (JBB) into studios,” as each studio they’ve recorded in was previously used by the legendary Ithaca, New York-based band. This trend continues unabated here, as Welsch was formerly JBB’s dub engineer and producer on some of their finest sessions, while another song on STEADY – the herb-smoking gem “Mr. Cop” – was produced by Matt Saccuccimorano, who helmed the controls on the last JBB release. The only other track on the record not coming from Welsch – the title track – was co-produced by Danny Kalb, who has worked with The Green, Ben Harper, and Jack Johnson.

Giant Panda formed in 2001 in Rochester, New York. A mysteriously fertile area for developing the U.S. reggae scene, the city has ties going back to 1981 when Lee “Scratch” Perry recruited his entire backing band from Rochester. The Upstate NY region became early supporters of GPGDS, while its members were in high school and beginning college, playing weekly gigs to cut their teeth. In these formative years, Giant Panda began to explore their songs with an experimental approach that is stylistically akin to the Grateful Dead, while keeping their roots firmly planted in reggae rhythms and lyrical content. Around 2005 tapers began to notice and soon after one of the band’s first Colorado shows received homepage placement on the popular taper website Archive.org. Almost overnight GPGDS became a mainstay on the jamband festival circuit.

From 2005 – 2013 GPGDS’s three original members (drummer Chris O’Brian, guitarist-singer Dylan Savage, and bassist-singer James Searl) began a touring schedule averaging over 100 shows a year and performing throughout the U.S., Canada, and Jamaica. Their third lead singer, multi-instrumentalist Dan Keller, joined the group a few years back, while keyboardist Tony Gallicchio joined in 2013. (Most of the sessions for STEADY feature ex-keys man Aaron Lipp, though Gallicchio can be heard on two of the tracks.) Giant Panda’s continuous time on the road hardened the players into monster instrumentalists. Their attention to the studio in later years, along with a unique blending of reggae and rural American music solidified GPGDS as one of the region’s most beloved bands. Like their hometown, they manage to unify an intellectual and creative culture with a hard-working blue-collar past.

The three main songwriters’ material is different enough to create a flowing and diverse listening experience. Savage’s inspiring anthems tend to be the most “classically” reggae, with songs like “Not The Fool,” “Whatever Cost,” and “Solution” echoing influences like Culture (circa 1979), early Burning Spear, and Jimmy Cliff. Searl is more experimental, both in form (“Wolf At The Door” could almost be an Elvis Costello song, while “.45” utilizes African and blues influences) and in lyrics: his “Hurt Up Your Brother” is almost Dadaist, taking a few lines and constantly rearranging them to achieve new meanings, imbued with a nonsensical-yet-expressive feel, while one of the most dubbed-out riddims on the record chugs along underneath. Keller’s songs stand illusively in between, and manage to go both directions, with a hardcore reggae groove on “Move” giving way to an unexpected chorus, or with the catchy “Home” being one of the only reggae songs in history to use a banjo so creatively and fittingly.

Giant Panda is one of a growing number of bands that work with both Rootfire (their management) and Easy Star Records. STEADY marks the seventeenth release Rootfire and Easy Star have paired up for, making them one of the most storied and successful partnerships in the modern reggae scene. Release number eighteen is just a few months away…. GPGDS has cut a full Americana album as a sequel to 2012’s Country, which will also come out on Easy Star in early 2015. For now though, sit back and enjoy STEADY – a masterpiece that solidifies Giant Panda’s standing as a groundbreaker in the roots reggae scene.

About

Shrub

Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, the seven piece “Reggae / Rap / Rock” fusion, Shrub, has been rapidly gaining momentum and building a solid national fan base since being voted by readers as High Times Magazine’s Unsigned Band of the Month in September of 2010.

Recently, Shrub released their first full length album, Highceratops, which debuted in the Top 10 on the iTunes Reggae Charts. The album features guest appearances by C-Money from Slightly Stoopid, Dubmatix, and Kimberly Freeman from One-Eyed Doll. The band garners comparisons to artists like Sublime, The Dirty Heads, Atmosphere, Gym Class Heroes, and G. Love, but Shrub maintains an innately unique and raw sound all their own. With the addition of new guitar player, Kevin Oliver, former member of the hugely popular band, Parliament/Funkadelic (George Clinton), Shrub’s sound has now quickly become full-grown.

Shrub has shared the stage with: The Dirty Heads, Collie Buddz, Rebelution, Yellowman, The Expendables, Kottonmouth Kings, Gov’t Mule, Hed PE, Badfish, Scotty Don’t, Marlon Asher, Yonder Mountain String Band, Ballyhoo!, ekoostik hookah, Zach Deputy, Don Carlos, Mighty Diamonds, Tribal Seeds, The Young Dubliners, Passafire, Seedless, Micah Brown, The Revivalists, Fortunate Youth, Big B, Spiritual Rez, Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds, Echo Movement, Best Coast, Dinosaur Jr, The Dirty Projectors, Grizzly Bear, Tennis, and many more.

“The Midwest has long been a hotbed for successful rap artists, but Shrub’s eclectic fusion of rap, reggae, and rock brings a whole new flavor to the scene.” – High Times Magazine

About

TAUK

TAUK is heavy instrumental rock fusion created by Matt Jalbert (guitar), Charlie Dolan (bass), Alric “A.C.” Carter (keyboard-organ), and Isaac Teel (drums). The transcendent instrumental band seamlessly brings together genres as diverse as melodic rock, fusion, gritty funk, progressive rock, ambient, classic rock, hip hop and jazz.

The Oyster Bay, New York-based quartet has received accolades from a number of tastemaking authorities, including an “On The Verge” feature in Relix Magazine and frequent rotation for the singles “Mindshift”, “Sweet Revenge”, “Dead Signal” and “In the Basement of the Alamo” on Sirius XM Jam On. Despite their years of experience as a musical unit, the quartet is a young promising band that Jambase calls “a guaranteed quickly-ascend band.” The Washington Post describes the band by saying: “TAUK’s instrumental music melds genres and styles, creating a hard-charging, often melodic fusion that – thanks to a penchant for improv – offers limitless possibilities” and The Deli Magazine singles out the band’s compelling melodic sense through explaining: “the quartet has a rare ability to channel emotional melodic leads, and all without a lead singer.”

The band’s latest album, Collisions, is a breakthrough in that it finally captures the essence of TAUK’s entrancing live shows. It’s a thoughtfully composed album with captivating hum-along melodies, but this time the band was able to road test the songs, allowing the recorded versions to reflect the group’s adventurous improvisations. The 10-song album spans delicate ethereal textures, highly imaginatively funky drumming, labyrinthine arrangements, and fiery solos—often in the same song.

Starting out as a drummer, Colorado producer Paul Brandt aka Paul Basic joined a band with Derek Vincent Smith (Pretty Lights) and Michal Menert in high school before they each moved on to pursue solo production work. In fall 2011 Paul released his debut EP ‘The Mirror’ on Pretty Lights Music which features a gritty, nostalgic sound blending dusty samples, grainy synths, biting bass and thick drums – a combination that earned him an integral place within the PLM movement.

Paul’s follow-up LP ‘Transient Horizons’ is a more refined delivery of his dark, heavy beats and shows a unique range of mood and musicality. The album features collaborations with Pretty Lights, Michal Menert, and Trophy Beats. Available now for free download from Pretty Lights Music.

About

DJ Hollow Point

First exposed to the art of DJing after moving to The Windy City in 2006, Christopher Noland (aka DJ Hollow Point) found himself immediately enamored with the idea of spinning records. Most would be surprised to learn that the junglist actually traces his roots in electronic music to Chicago house, not drum & bass.

“A friend of mine was an old school house DJ, so I actually cut my DJ teeth on classic Chicago house records,” Hollow Point says as he reflects on his earliest memories learning the craft. “Labels like Dust Traxx and Moody Recordings, as well as artists like Paul Johnson, Barbara Tucker and Armand Van Helden were common on the 12″ records I’d use to learn the basics of DJing.”

It wasn’t long before he found his true calling: drum & bass.

“The best part about discovering drum & bass music was the fact that I had no outside influence on the matter; quite the opposite, actually. My friends begged me to stick with house music, but the rhythm and pace of drum & bass had already made its way into my subconscious.”

Just one year later DJ Hollow Point performed his first public set at the Eviction Notice rave in South Chicago Heights. He soon moved to Indianapolis to carve his place in the ranks of the great already-established DJs that ruled the city.

Since that summer, DJ Hollow Point has dedicated himself to pushing the limits of Indianapolis drum & bass, forever finding new ways to blend dubstep, drumstep, trap and moombahton into his own unique brand of deep, heavy drum & bass.

In 2008, Hollow Point began hosting a live weekly radio show called “Introspection” on internet station BoostFM.com. Since joining the G-9 Collective in 2010, Hollow Point has shared the stage with Bare, LTJ Bukem, Dieselboy, Reid Speed, Terravita, Ana Sia, Zeds Dead, Forest Green, roeVy and more.

Always striving to keep drum & bass relevant in Indianapolis, Hollow Point works hard to cultivate growth in the scene and support his fellow bass music DJs. Whether he’s educating the next generation on great music of the past or helping his stalwart fans to appreciate today’s most forward-thinking producers- count on DJ Hollow Point to deliver nothing but the best, every single time.

About

Consider the Source

NYC trio Consider the Source defy easy description. If intergalactic beings of pure energy, after initiation into an order of whirling dervishes, built some kind of pan-dimensional booty-shaking engine, powered by psychedelics and abstract math, it’d probably just sound like a CTS tribute band. Drawing from progressive rock, fusion and jazz, with alien sounds soaked in Indian and Middle Eastern styles, CTS blends disparate parts into a striking, utterly original whole. Dubbed “Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion”, the band’s music strikes a rare balance between cerebral and emotional, intellectual and primal. A relentless touring schedule has won the band a fervent following from California to Israel, with fans ranging from jam-band hippies and jazz cats to corpse-painted headbangers and prog geeks.
Formed in 2004, Consider the Source features Gabriel Marin on fretless double-neck guitar, bassist John Ferrara, and drummer/percussionist Jeff Mann. Called “the guiding light for his generation of six-stringers”, Marin channels the mystical fury of McLaughlin and Coltrane into wailing melodies, kaleidoscopic soundscapes and boneshaking riffs. With a background in classical musics both Eurpoean and Indian, and an instinct for avant-jazz and destructive metal, Marin’s hypnotic fusion of styles is ever unpredictable. Ferrara’s propulsive, percussive attack, equally suited to simple grooves and impossible chords, can ground the music or launch it into space. His madcap gumbo of slap bass, Indian rhythms, earthy minimalism and complex tapping constantly pushes into strange new worlds, whilst still dropping thick booty-clap beats. Underneath them lies Mann’s rolling thunder; dense rhythmic architecture built from pure swagger and bounce. Half double-bass prog-metal, half crackle-pop Buddy Rich swing, with African and Balkan swirls, Mann’s muscular, freewheeling polyrhythms are the engine fuel for Consider’s multiversal mischief. Even when not improvising, Consider’s music is always a conversation, a roiling stew of dynamic interplay. Each member of Consider the Source alternately leads and follows, spars and assists; in any single song, alliances are made and broken, bargains struck and divorces finalized.

Touring from coast to coast, as well as Europe and the Middle East, has not only earned the band thousands of fans, but has allowed them to perform with wide variety of well-known artists, including Victor Wooten, Wayne Krantz, King Crimson Projekt, Kris Myers (Umphrey’s McGee), Wyclef Jean, Andy Statman, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Dumpstaphunk, Keller Williams, George Porter, Jr., Jeff Sipe, Panzerballet (Germany), Eatliz (Israel), Freak Kitchen (Sweden), Morglbl (France), and many others. They have performed at numerous festivals and events, including Catskill Chill, The Big Up, Burning Man, Sun Seekers Ball (Canada), Mid-Summer Meltdown, Rootwire, the NYC Fretless Guitar Festival, and the NYC Gypsy Festival. The band’s newest album, “F**k It! We’ll Do It Live” is available from considerthesourcemusic.bandcamp.com.

About

Tropidelic

Tropidelic formed along the banks of the Cuyahoga River in murky, Kent, Ohio. Fusing energetic funk, reggae and hip-hop, the group built a local following distributing over 10,000 free copies of their first EP, “Rebirth of The Dope” on campuses and street corners throughout the midwest. After relocating to nearby Cleveland, the group bolstered themselves as a staple in the region through constant touring as well as supporting acts like Slightly Stoopid, 311, Pepper, The Dirty Heads, Sublime with Rome, Soja, The Wailers, & many more. In addition to appearances at Warped Tour and Bamboozle Festival (50,000+ attendees), their EP, “Erie Vibes & Irie Tides” received regular radio airplay on area stations in 2011. Tropidelic continued to develop their sound and unflagging live show with the addition of a three piece horn section and percussion. In 2014, the group was shut down by police during a SXSW street performance and was published by national media outlets when their rehearsal space was haphazardly raided by police later that year while executing a warrant for a previous tenant. The group sold out the renown, Grog Shop, in Cleveland, OH on December 31, 2014 and toured the southeast with big-drawing, Badfish (Sublime Tribute) in Spring 2015. Their latest release, “Police State” features cameo appearances by East Coast Reggae friends, Sun-Dried Vibes and Bumpin’ Uglies. Tropidelic continues to bring their funky reggae circus across the US in their full size school bus conversion!

About

G Jones

Santa Cruz producer G Jones has captivated young audiences across North America with his playful and expansive take on broken beat dance music. His live show weaves an ever expanding catalog of heavy knocking hip hop beats, cross- genre experiments, and expansive melodic riffs in a way that illuminates and drives the dance floor. With his irreverent attitude toward unimaginative EDM, this young producer pushes the envelope and blurs the lines between musical styles while maintaining a meticulous balance of minimal space and heavy bass. His latest release Eyes (available on Robox Neotech) is an audacious energy enhancer comprised of premium West Coast bass music, a swift collection of cross-genre experiments and dubbed-out sub bass monsters designed for the dance floor. This playful EP illustrates the artist’s signature reverb style with bulbous basslines, pulverized vocals and unexpected adulterations of spaced-out sounds.G Jones has recently garnered attention from several highly acclaimed producers, with his beats appearing in mixes by Pretty Lights, Zeds Dead and DJ Shadow on BBC’s “Diplo and Friends” program. Touring heavily in Europe and hitting U.S. festivals from Coachella to Symbiosis Gathering this Summer, G Jones generates music dosed with an undeniable sense of freedom and fun.

About

Jin-XS

Over the last decade, Jin-XS has become a recognizable face in the Indianapolis DJ scene, across a broad spectrum of genres.

Born in Uqbar, later moving to Broad Ripple in Indianapolis at the age of 3, Jin-XS spent much of his youth and teens in the rave, industrial, and hip hop undergrounds, but his work as a DJ began 1999 in Denver, when a cousin taught him the ins and outs of using DJ equipment. Around this time he also began teaching himself a variety of music software. By 2003, he had begun his work with instrumental production and mastering the art of DJing itself, and continues to the present, spinning an eclectic mix of genres in some of Indianapolis’ biggest music venues. In 2009 he opened for “End:The DJ,” the #1 Industrial DJ in the world, at Gencon. He has been a show DJ with top acts such as My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, The Ready Set, Naughty By Nature, and InnerPartySystem, and appeared in BET’s tour commercial for Murphy Lee. Currently is a part of the G9 Collective, IndyMojo’s DJ crew.

DJ MicroMachine

DJ since 2008. I spin damn near anything and enjoy doing so immensely. Music is more than a hobby, it is a full-blown obsession.

I started out spinning goth and industrial and quickly found myself branching out into more and more EDM and other assorted music. Electro house, top 40, dubstep, hip hop, drum & bass / jungle, 80’s, and more. I have a wide appreciation for all kinds of music outside these areas as well and it seems to grow every day.
I have played at numerous clubs / bars, festivals, house parties, raves, and even do the odd wedding reception or birthday party. I just enjoy being a part of DJ culture and take every opportunity to expand my skills and increase my audience.

I am a part of several groups of talented individuals. Most recently I have been added as an admin at facebook.com/DJ.Mixes.Now and am starting to do interviews for their website at djmixesnow.com

I am a performer with Infinite Vibes Entertainment at facebook.com/InfiniteVibes, PimpinAzzBeatz at facebook.com/Nefarious.N8, and have been added as an artist and moderator at the newly founded Draynohed Productions at facebook.com/Dhprecords. About

Inverse Universe

Inverse Universe is a Chicago based electronic bass music project that features the collaborative efforts of Tyler Thompson (TYLR) and Adam Stephens (STEPHENS). In a music scene dominated by DJ’s, these two musicians turned producers strive to give the crowd more by performing 100% original compositions and remixes. They incorporate a combination of live instrumentation and mix multiple layers of “stems”. In other words, they are mixing each instrumental layer of their song on the spot. This style of mixing allows Inverse Universe to artistically reinvent the way the listener hears each song rhythmically, melodically, and structurally, so that every performance can demonstrate a completely new experience of each track. The objective of the Inverse Universe project, aside from delivering melodically powerful bass-driven music, is to get away from the traditional performance methods of DJ’s who often perform by mixing from one premade track to the next, and to create energy by engaging the audience through the spectacle of their drum, keyboard, guitar, and finger-drumming techniques. These two artists have learned from extensive experience as performers that there is more to the art of electronic music than limiting yourself to specific genres, tempos, and moods. As such, Inverse Universe strives to present its listeners with passionate polytempo sets that cover the range of human emotion from strong, hand raising bangers, to smooth, lush, melodic soundscapes that transport listeners to dream-like states of wonder.

About

800 lb Gorilla

800 lb. Gorilla is a college rock/jam band based in Bloomington, Indiana. With a rock and roll core, the band pulls together funk and jazz influences to create driving, catchy, danceable grooves. A five-piece band, 800lbG places rock-solid guitar, funky keyboards and sax on top of a drums-and-bass rhythm section. The interplay between musicians takes place on an improvisational plane that harkens Herbie Hancock, The Grateful Dead and Steely Dan.

Originally formed by brothers Mark (guitar) and Daniel (lead vox) Humphrey when they were in middle school, the band has evolved from a hard-rock power trio to a funk and jazz juggernaut. Since that time they have added Kwame Newton (keyboards/alto sax), Brian Carson (drums), and Joe Schweitzer (electric bass). As a group, you would be hard-pressed to find five more competent musicians.

800 lb. Gorilla has enjoyed a warm welcome from music lovers as they have developed their show on stages across Indiana and Ohio. Their fanbase is strongest among their college peers in Bloomington, and the jam band community throughout Central Indiana. They are fortunate to have been invited to play festivals this year including Hyperion, Good People Good Times, JorgStock (Eiteljorg Museum), and Taste of Bloomington.
The band intends to take the musical interplay higher, and continue to reach music lovers far and wide.

About

Charbonneau

I live in Indianapolis, Indiana USA and have loved what I grew up calling “dance music” my entire life. The fact that I now make that music and have people willing to listen to it is still hard for me to grasp.

I have had a great life, but always knew something was missing. I remember vividly the moment I realized I wanted to be a DJ and produce music. It was a moment of clarity. You know the moments I am talking about? It’s like a spark gets lit inside of you and there are two choices: ignore it and eventually the flame goes out, or you say “I am going to make this happen.” I remember my moment and I remember feeling the spark.

I chose to make it happen.

This choice was followed by months of intense practice, and incessant research. I still do this every day because I love hearing new sounds that I can work with and learning more about production effects. I want each track and podcast I release to continuously improve and to share new and moving tracks with my listeners. I hope to spread positivity through my music to as many people as possible

I believe stories are simply a compilation of experiences and moments in our lives. Some awesome, and some not so much. I tell a story with every set I play because I want to take the crowd through those moments and through my experiences in my own life.

When you listen to my music or experience a performance, our stories are linked for a period of time. I look forward to the great moments ahead.

Be positive,

Charbonneau

About

Stanton Warriors

Since bursting onto the scene with their multi award-winning compilation “The Stanton Sessions” back in 2001, the Stanton Warriors’ irresistible and inimitable sound has consistently remained the soundtrack to some of the world’s biggest and best parties over the past thirteen years; from East London warehouses, Miami boat parties and illegal Detroit raves, to the stages of Coachella, Glastonbury, Burning Man and Ultra, selling out global tours and topping DJ lists along the way.

In the studio, Bristol’s Mark Yardley and Dominic Butler have honed a trademark, uncategorisable sound that is at once all their own, but also utterly indefinable, leading to high-profile releases on XL Records, Fabric, Cheap Thrills, Central Station and Universal, alongside official remixes for everyone from Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim, to MIA and Gorillaz. This phenomenal output and remarkable longevity has ensured the Stanton Warriors legendary status amongst not only their fans, but also their peers, as they remain fresh, original and relevant; obstinately dancing to beat of their own drum and helping to pave the way for new talent.

In 2014 alone, the Stanton Warriors topped the Beatport charts (again), inspired Disclosure’s Grammy-nominated album Settle, got Annie Mac dancing on her living room carpet, opened London’s 3k capacity Building Six club, saw their podcast shoot to No. 3 in the iTunes chart and smashed the stages of Ultra, Supersonic and Glastonbury.

In 2015, Stanton Warriors typically show no sign of slowing down with a brand new album featuring a host of new exciting bass artists such as Cause & Affect (aka Chris Lorenzo & Kane), sold-out tours across the USA, Europe, Australia and the Far East, collaborations on Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird label and a slew of exciting releases on their own tastemaker label Punks.

About

Jeremy Daeger aka That Guy

Jeremy Daeger credits the beginning of his musical career to his father who handed him a DJ setup at the ripe age of 14. A hand-me-down from the neighbors, Daeger never knew it would be the beginning of a lifelong passion and hobby.

Like many self-taught DJs, he learned the ropes through relentless practice at beat-matching and mixing records. When the 90’s hit, Daeger embedded himself in the burgeoning rave scene and felt a renewed connection to music.

Reflecting on his earliest work experimenting with electronic music, Daeger explains, “I started with house music because it was a 4/4 style and easy to beat match.” It wasn’t long before he discovered the style of breaks in 2003, allowing him to branch out into new musical territory and leverage his love for hip hop and funk. “It’s more than just a beat,” Daeger says of his special blend of break beats and groovy jams. “It has vocals and familiar rhythms that people can really get into.”

An active member of the G9 Collective since 2009, That Guy The DJ’s distinct blend of hip hop and break beats further diversifies the well-rounded group of DJs. Mixing bass, funk and rhythms to make you want to dance, That Guy The DJ delivers guilty pleasures from your radio and iPod, but with more energy and sophistication.

About

Restless Leg String Band

Joe & Casey have played in multiple projects together and started pickin’ acoustic on the street in downtown Lexington, Ky, in the late summer of 2013. During that time they were looking to start a new, local-bluegrass project. Meeting regularly, they began writing/collaborating and learning new/old songs. They took their acoustic instruments & pickin’ all around downtown Lexington at Thursday Night Live, as well as their weekly spot, the Wildcat Market on Columbia Ave. Located on University of Kentucky’s campus. Many other friends and musicians joined in, one being mandolin player, Alex Guagenti. Alex quickly formed a very friendly and very tight bond with Joe and Casey through their music. Restless Leg String Band was born into existence. Ishi joined after filling in during the summer months of 2014. He is a well known musician in & around Kentucky. He has been in touring acts such as; Bloodroots Barter, YoHo Buffalo, & The Ishi Wooton Experience.
Incorporating traditional bluegrass numbers, high-energy originals and a vast range of cover material, they started booking gigs and pickin’ and playing as much as possible. Quickly gaining a reputation for festivals and venues alike.

The Trip

About

The Trip

The Trip is a band of three, young well-rounded musicians in every way. Everywhere I see them play and when they perform at my radio show, their passion and desire for music really hits home with anyone and everyone that is listening.” This is what well known and respected Indy DJ, Penny Lane had to say of The Trip after they promoted an upcoming performance on her daily radio show. This was only months after the formation of the band and they were glad to already have accomplished so much. Their top of the line radio-quality EP recorded with award winning producer, Corey Miller, sold over 500 copies and the band wasn’t even a year old. Each member knew that this was more than just an after-school hobby, their music was selling on ITunes and Spotify and fans were sharing it with friends and family. Before The Trip knew it, they had garnered a fan base like no other and a reputation of releasing solid, flawless recordings and performing with an enormous amount of energy and clean sound.

It all started when the band’s writer and front man, Dacota Muckey, saw the “Huxford Brothers” performing at a local all ages club in Fishers, Indiana. Jake and Riley Huxford were a bass and drum duo that made an audience in awe at what a couple of brothers could do with nothing but four strings and some drums. Jake’s unique bass riffs with Riley’s extremely clean drumming caught Dacota’s ear immediatley. The three spoke after the show and after a few jams, The Trip was born.

The band wasted no time getting into the studio. They recorded their first 4 song EP with award winning producer, Corey Miller, at The Lodge in downtown Indianapolis. The CD was a huge success and sold over 500 copies. Bars and venues started to become very interested in the buzz The Trip was producing in the music world. The three piece quickly got to gigging and promoting their unique sound. The owner of Bloomington’s Players Pub had this to say after experiencing The Trip; “We run a music house with 14 acts a week. My employees hear a lot of bands. Several of them bought “The Trip” CDs & insist that we keep their CD in the house music rotation. These 3 young players love to play and it shows.”

Their music has now been performed in hundreds of bars and festivals all over Indiana from the Bluebird, to the Cornstock Festival and more. They have made appearances on radio stations all over Indy including WTTS in Bloomington, Giant 96 Real Radio in Shelbyville, Radio Free Indy Online and more! Their music is being sold at a rate they can hardly keep track of. This was all accomplished by a very young 3 piece that has hardly been together a year. It’s very clear that The Trip is going big places and their music is the driving force behind their success.

Back in studio, Dacota, Jake, and Riley are hard at work on producing their masterpiece. “This new music, it’s something magical. The hardest part of working on it, is not being able to show people quite yet,” recalls Dacota. The Trip is releasing their new EP with a huge campout/festival on the beautiful property of Stable Studios is Spencer, Indiana on Saturday, May 9th. “Its like a make-shift Woodstock. People who haven’t got a ticket will realize what they’re missing last minute and flock to Spencer.”

Anyone who is introduced to The Trip in the musical world immediately realizes that they a very serious musical force. “They have the fullest sound I’ve ever heard a 3 piece have,” claims Owner of Stable Studios, Chris Kinnick. Expect nothing but big things from The Trip. They are sky rocketing at an exponential rate and their music isn’t just getting a big hype here in Indy, but all over the country. Stable Studios just recently launched an online radio station the plays The Trip’s songs all over the world!

Be a part of the amazing things being accomplished by The Trip. Keep checking into their website and other social medias to keep up to date on everything in the world of The Trip.
