The Captain Midnight Band plays “Waterbed Rock & Roll”, which is an amalgam of Classic Rock, Jazz, R&B, and a little Penthouse Forum.
Comparisons to KISS, Zappa, Steely Dan, and P-Funk, are flatteringly accurate. While the songs are expertly written and delivered, its the precise combination of showmanship, improvisation, humor, and dynamics that keep fans coming back for more.
The Captain Midnight Band was formed in New Orleans in 2002, as a side project to Midnight’s old band, CRÖNK. After Katrina, the operation moved to Nashville, TN, where the band continues to record and tour on a regular basis.
The group, which can range from 3-7 players, features a rotating cast of impeccable musicians and freaky friends who help bring Midnight’s vast musical catalog to life. Sometimes there are horns. Sometimes there are Cosmic Trollops. You never can tell.
The Captain Midnight Band has released 3 EP’s and 1 full-length record, entitled “Chamber of Thrills!!” The band has released 2 internet singles and is currently putting the finishing touches on a new album, due out October 2010. For more info, visit www.captainmidnightband.com.
