Shannon Burton, also known as DJ Steady B, has built a respectable reputation and following since stepping into the music business over 16 years ago. He began his career as a Hip Hop and R&B DJ, but has grown into a multi-genre DJ, Producer, and Promoter. Through his many years, many headlines and many successful events, he has claimed his stake as one of the midwest’s top DJ’s.
He has had the privilege of sharing his passion for all things music with fellow music lovers spanning the globe. Though he calls Indianapolis home, he has brought his infectious energy and style to stages in Germany, Toronto, Detroit, Orlando, Chicago, and the rest of the Midwest’s major cities.
DJ Steady B has shared the stage with a wide array of entertainers in various settings, which supports the fact that he can call any stage, venue, or crowd home. He has performed with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Mix Master Mike, Bad Boy Bill, Swamp, Alex Peace, Skylab 2000, DJ Assault, D. Lake of Claire Hux, Paul Anthony, and Figure. He has also opened for bands like Zoogma and the Skeetones, DJ’ed multiple major events for Super Bowl XLVI, NCAA and MotoGP in Indianapolis, represented Scratch Academy, and displayed his skills on stage at the Detroit Music Festival.
Currently, Steady holds residencies at two clubs in Indiana. He performs weekly at the Neon Cactus in West Lafayette and Subterra Lounge in Indianapolis. Over the span of his career, he has held more than 10 different longstanding residencies in different venues and cities.
Given his unique ear for music, it was only natural he would produce music himself one day. In 2000, Steady released his first mixed tape, “Nice Guys Bang Hard.” This featured his first self-produced work, but was quickly followed by “The Hardfather” and “Return of the Hardfather.” He has also partnered with fellow artists to create popular remixes, such as “Lay You Down,” a remix of Grey Granite’s (Heavy Gun Entertainment) released in 2009.
DJ Steady B’s talent is music. His passion is sharing it with others in any way he can. Be it filling the dance floor mixing tracks, using his own productions, or bringing other performers together to put on an amazing event, he never disappoints. His unique and dirty style of music mixed with his infectious stage presence has made him a key player in the Indiana music industry for years. His experience and drive will keep around for many, many more.
