About

foibleep

A tag team duo locally sourced from Columbus, Ohio, foi oi oi and What the Bleep are two selectors spicing up the dance. With their roots marinated in the jungle, their flavor includes a spread of multi-cultural bass-heavy genres. They energetically work turntables while rapidly adventuring through a palette of sounds. The menu today includes a cornucopia of rhythm— bass notes smoked slow and low until tender, a side of chopped breakbeats curried with an herb garnish, finished off with rich vocals. The aim of the “foibleep experience” is to serve a full-bodied blend of organic beats and positive vibes by using only the finest ingredients.

Since 2004, foi oi oi and What the Bleep have jointly attended Movement (aka the Detroit Electronic Music Festival), spreading their music as “brothers”. In honor of that tradition, they annually release the groundbreaking mixtape “Feelings for Detroit”, a mix widely-popular for its multiplicity of sounds and technical mixing. The mix has become the duo’s most treasured creation, from the fluid “Top Mix of 2012” (RaggaJungle.biz) Volume 6: Water Sound to the 54-track dancefloor-focused Volume 7: Conquering Dandelion to Volume 8: Under Mi Sensei in a kung-fu style.

Around the world in 44 tracks, Feelings for Detroit Volume 9: Number One encapsulates and unites the many rhythms of our Earth. The story begins with two children hammering away at a xylophone in an open field, creating their orchestral masterpiece. Their percussive patterns evolve, just as the foreseen world, from the natural to the digital and fly you through the Ivory Coast, Australia, Detroit, UK, Argentina, South Africa, Brazil, Ghana, Israel, Jamaica, India, Outer Space, Da Club, Japan, and Cuba. Let foibleep show you the world, from wonder to wonder; over, sideways, and under, on a multi-culti journey.

DJ since 2008. I spin damn near anything and enjoy doing so immensely. Music is more than a hobby, it is a full-blown obsession.

I started out spinning goth and industrial and quickly found myself branching out into more and more EDM and other assorted music. Electro house, top 40, dubstep, hip hop, drum & bass / jungle, 80's, and more. I have a wide appreciation for all kinds of music outside these areas as well and it seems to grow every day.
I have played at numerous clubs / bars, festivals, house parties, raves, and even do the odd wedding reception or birthday party. I just enjoy being a part of DJ culture and take every opportunity to expand my skills and increase my audience.

I am a part of several groups of talented individuals. Most recently I have been added as an admin at facebook.com/DJ.Mixes.Now and am starting to do interviews for their website at djmixesnow.com

I am a performer with Infinite Vibes Entertainment at facebook.com/InfiniteVibes, PimpinAzzBeatz at facebook.com/Nefarious.N8, and have been added as an artist and moderator at the newly founded Draynohed Productions at facebook.com/Dhprecords. I'm also the official DJ for a fantastic burlesque troupe called Creme de les Femmes. facebook.com/cremedelesfemmes

Any questions for me about booking or anything at all, feel free to contact me at facebook.com/themicromachine or email me directly at [email protected] Thanks for your support!

A respected purveyor of ragga sounds, What the Bleep’s pseudonym depicts the character behind the music as unconventional and undefinable. He defies stereotypes and assumed cultural contexts, maintains no blind allegiances to genres or scene players, and is known to follow his own path.

For many years, What the Bleep was the unfaltering and widely-heralded ambassador of ragga jungle. Self-taught and coming from the unlikely place of Bowling Green, Ohio, his early story was one of a dormant passion for rhythm unleashed through turntables. Identified by his flailing locks and the fierce energy of a frenzied technician, he quickly became a staple in the Midwest. And marching forward he came to touch corners of the country and reach a global audience through years of broadcasting on jungletrain.net. Meanwhile, he had harnessed his influence in the scene and quickly-learned knowledge of event production to bring electronic music culture to his hometown in the form of Konkrete Jungle Bowling Green.

Fast forward to today – his 10-year-long dreadlocks are retired, he has left behind the limitations of a single genre and the vinyl medium, and he now sees music culture with a new clarity and greater depth. Never having slowed down as a DJ, his partnership with long-time co-selector foi oi oi is booming with a multi-genre “forward-thinking junglist” style found in energetic live sets and their annual mix series, Feelings for Detroit. And as a solo DJ, What the Bleep is reinvented as a roots-oriented versatile selector – dubby, heady, moody, and bassy. Beyond the stage, he continues to use his experience to push forward with a hand in event production, booking, promotions, and otherwise maximizing the potential of the culture.

Forward-thinking junglists.

A tag team duo hailing from Ohio, foi oi oi and What the Bleep are two selectors pushing the boundaries of bass music. “Ragga bass” is the most accurate label used to describe what they play – as they lean toward reggae-influenced bass-heavy styles – but in actuality they are not bound by any specific genre. Instead, their focus is on a positive music experience that comes from a junglist mentality with a sense of humor. Always honoring the roots of mixing and selection, they energetically work turntables and move through many styles. The ultimate goal of the “foibleep experience” is to light up dancefloors with organic beats and positive vibes with a diverse selection of jungle, drum & bass, juke, roots dubstep, halfstep, dancehall, instrumental hip hop, and bass music genres still yet undefined.

Since 2004 foi oi oi and What the Bleep have jointly attended Movement (aka the Detroit Electronic Music Festival), spreading their music as “brothers”. In honor of that tradition, they annually release the groundbreaking mixtape “Feelings for Detroit”, a mix widely-popular for it’s multiplicity of bass music sounds. The mix has become the duo’s most treasured creation, from the fluid “Top Mix of 2012” (RaggaJungle.biz) Volume 6: Water Sound to the 54-track dancefloor-focused Volume 7: Conquering Dandelion. And after much training and meditation, the duo releases the 2014 iteration in a kung fu style – Feelings for Detroit Volume 8: Under Mi Sensei.
