About

Action Jackson

Indianapolis born and raised, Action Jackson has been a mainstay in the Midwest DJ scene for over a decade and a half, playing well over 200 shows per year. Specializing in genre bending mixes that span multiple styles of music, he is equally comfortable spinning hip-hop, EDM, indie rock, classics and everything in between. His frequent production collaborations with Lemi Vice have received support across the globe garnering spins on BBC Radio 1 and support from some of the world’s top djs such as Diplo & Dillon Francis. In short, there’s not a crowd or party that he can’t rock from the sweatiest underground dance club to large festivals such as Forecastle, Identity Fest, and The Indianapolis 500, the biggest single day sporting event in the world.

In 2007, he partnered with Flufftronix to form Rad Summer, a promotion company based in Bloomington, IN. Now based in Philly and Indianapolis, RAD SUMMER has become an established name in the Midwest and East-Coast; partnering with brands such as Scion, Mad Decent, Colt 45, IHEARTCOMIX, PBR, Mishka etc… and booking acts such as Rusko, Benga, Flosstradamus (as performers they’ve also partnered in events for such artists as Soulja Boy, DJ AM, Steve Aoki, and Girl Talk). In 2011 Rad Summer expanded to include a full fledged record label, with releases from industry heavyweights such as Figure and DJ Shiftee.

Dartanyan Kane

Belief in the manifestation,

And dedication to the process.

These are words Dartanyan Kane lives by. Being born in Texas and raised in hippie communes across the United States, folk and alternative rock music have been merged together. From 13 Dartanyan’s been performing everywhere from California to Indiana; spreading his raspy, yet smooth singing voice and soulful guitar riffs across the continent. With a voice like any of the greatest rockstars, passionate messages interwoven into each song, and his ever changing guitar style, he has been able to shape an entirely unique sound of his own.

Based out of Phoenix Arizona, Dartanyan Kane’s EP “The Harsh Mello” was released 2019 on all platforms, along with a music video that reached 10’s of thousands of people. With two more projects online, another EP on its way out of production, and a full length album in the works, Dartanyan is steadily releasing new music.

Dartanyan has played multiple different music festivals across the nation. About

BoomBox

A little house, a little blues, a little funk, a little rock, and a whole lot of soul blast through BoomBox.

Since first emerging in 2004, founder, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Zion Rock Godchaux has been quietly seasoning this simmering recipe to perfection. However, it reaches a boiling point on his forthcoming 2018 album, Western Voodoo [Heart of Gold Records].

At the same time, the Muscle Shoals, AL native stays true to what attracted countless fans in the first place.

“I remain open to anything you would hear coming out of a boombox,” he explains. “There are a lot of different vibes and angles, but it still adheres to a universal rhythm. This new record is the most musical and varied, yet it’s tightly wound in respect to that syncopation. There are only a few rules. It should be heavy groove. It should make you want to move. Overall, I’ve further developed the sound people are used to.”

Following up 2016’s fan favorite Bits & Pieces, the artist found himself at something of a crossroads. Longtime collaborator Russ Randolph amicably parted ways with the band at the end of the year. For the first time, Godchaux would solely produce the bulk of a BoomBox record by himself inside of his new studio, while DJ Harry joined on tour in January 2017. Another first, he even performed live bass on the album, opening up the creative palette dramatically.

“I’ve learned more about engineering and the technical aspects of recording. It’s been a time of soul searching. I can follow any Ideas that I want to. So there’s a lot more organic instrumentation. I’m just trying to develop more sonic real.” Appropriately, he dubs the sound of Western Voodoo, “Dirty Disco Blues.” Within that realm, Godchaux fuses a funky strut with electronic energy and danceable swagger powerful enough to cast a spell of its own.

“You hear about different forms of magic around the world,” he goes on. “The West, in general, has its own voodoo influenced by the blues. That’s what shaped me as a musician growing up in this country. It’s hard to put in the words, but you know it when you hear it.”

You hear it in everything that BoomBox has done thus far. Over the course of four albums, the group has become a streaming favorite with numerous tracks cracking a million plays on Spotify. Moreover, they’ve made audiences groove everywhere from Electric Forest and Hangout Music Festival to High Sierra Music Festival. To welcome DJ Harry into the fold, they performed 75 shows in 2017, with that number expected to grow in 2018.

“Harry picked up everything in a really short amount of time,” he explains. “The parties are just as hot, if not hotter. The music is getting tighter. He stepped in and kept the plane in the air.”

In the end, the new music kicks off the brightest and boldest chapter yet for Godchaux. “Our best side is somewhat medicinal,” he leaves off. “All of the rhythms, melodies, and frequencies add up to these healing properties. I hope people feel rejuvenated and re-focused on some level when they hear us. That’s Western Voodoo.”

About

Joint Session

Joint Session formed in 1991 at a jam session under the 110 freeway. They played parties and coffee shops until they began to be managed by Frank Martinez in ’94. They also began to play the Roxbury in ’94 where they would have a residency until it closed in ’96. Other venues they played included The Whisky, C&C’s, Rusty’s Surf Ranch, Tampico Tilly’s, 14 Below, The Venice Bistro.

They went into the studio and recorded an album which was never finished as they broke up during the mix, because they were faced with touring and only Clayton was ready to hit the road.

They still get together for gigs a few times a year.
