About

“Hit The Decks” TV is a music video program on IMC, Fridays at midnight and Saturday at 10pm.

“Hit The Decks” radio is a show formerly broadcast on WRZX (X103) in Indianapolis and currently seeking a new home. From house to hip hop, electro to drum and bass, and everything in between, we’re an equal opportunity offender. We are posting our play list each week on our web site, so be sure to check it out in case you heard something you liked. The show’s podcast is available at http://feeds.feedburner.com/HitTheDecksPodcast and is updated on Monday evenings.

As for me… Where to begin…

Rudy Kizer has been a vocal advocate of electronic music, its artists and culture for over 20 years. Coming of age in the Chicago area, he was inspired by the legendary “Hot Mix 5” radio mixers and started spinning records in his bedroom. While at Purdue University, Rudy got his own turn on the air at WCCR, learning the ropes of format radio programming. An engineering student, his interests soon progressed from DJ to producer. After graduating, he started a multimedia production company and recording studio during the late ’90s Internet boom where he produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered a wide array of bands, vocalists, and electronic music projects.

From 2000-2006, he was a contributor and the primary producer for WRZX’s “Planet X” radio program (hosted by Jonathan Keith). He assisted in hosting Planet X’s “SPACE” events at Eden nightclub, bringing some of the hottest national and international DJ talent to perform in Indianapolis for the first time. Rudy has opened for Paul Van Dyk, The Crystal Method, DJ Dan, Bad Boy Bill, DJ Icey, and many others. His seasoned ear for good music and years of eclectic programming experience guides his floor-moving mix of electro-house, breaks, dubstep, and drum-and-bass. Beginning in the spring of 2007, Rudy became the host and producer of “Hit The Decks,” an alternative dance program, airing Sundays from 10pm to midnight on WRZX until June 2012.

About

Cyberoptics

A young producer taking the electronic music world by storm, at age 19 Alex Epps aka Cyberoptics first made his big smash into the scene with his release “Geisha” on Play Me Records. Geisha climbed to number 1 on the Beatport charts and held it’s place in the top 5 for over a month, battling producers such as Borgore and Doctor P.

His sound is influenced by every musical genre under the sun, and some from far past it. With a unique style that combines different themes, deep modulating bass, heavy sub, and one of-a-kind cosmic soundscapes, it’s almost impossible not to move your body to these alien sounding tones and ambient rhythms. Works of Cyberoptics can be found ranging from FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance” to Michael Bay’s “Battleship” trailer.

‘Cyberoptics’ 2nd release from Play Me Records “The Tie Fighter EP” exploded onto the Beatport top 20 with songs “Pimpin” hitting #3 “Geisha VIP” right behind at #4 and “Tie Fighter” and “Toasty” topping out at 14 and 17. Cyber’s unique style is constantly evolving with every song and spark of inspiration.

On September 16th 2013, Cyberoptics released his long awaited 17 track LP on Play Me Records. The release hit #1 in dubstep, drum & bass, electronica, and was the #1 of all releases on Beatport.

About

KJ SAWKA

“KJ Sawka is the master of drum and bass drumming. Plain and simple. Kevin has been involved in some of the biggest names in EDM, and continues to release top notch work as both a drummer and producer. I need not say too much, because once you watch this video, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

Consistently considered one of the go to guys for drum and bass rhythms that will rip your ears off, he’s only going to get bigger from here. Destroid, which includes masterminds Excision, Downlink, and KJ Sawka is coming towards an end to their 2013 tour. Seeing them live is something else if you never have. Check out their remaining dates below and watch Kevin “Destroy” it on the drums.

Freq Culture.com
http://freqculture.com/blog/2013/11/kj-sawka-drum-video/

KJ Sawka plays some of the rawest drums around. And that’s before he adds electronics. On an acoustic drumset he creates the whirs, delays, effects, and sonic dislocations of electronic music. Adding an arsenal of devices further broadens his palette, providing an atmospheric bed for his extremely visceral drumming. “I really try to re-create the drum machine beats of electronic music with an acoustic drumset, simultaneously triggering the actual snare, kick, and hi-hat sounds,” Sawka explains from London. “I try to sound as electronic as possible. I become the machine.”

About

Firecat 451

Firecat 451 is a multi-genre dj doing live MCing during his own set, as well as booking to MC for other EDM artists.

In DJ mode, Firecat 451 brings sick dubstep with precision and power. Also in the line-up are impressive blends of trap and electro music with notes of international flavor. Dance floors will rattle and ragers will be rewarded with perfectly chosen grooves.

Firecat 451 also does Drum & Bass and Drumstep, in this mode, breakers, b-boys, and those who represent can’t help but to come front and center and show respect for the diligence and wicked track selection.

Add a microphone and the party is off the chain. Firecat is known for his ability to dynamically freestyle. Intricate swings between American street poetry and singing chorus’ reminiscent of Seal and Bob Marley. The plan is complete when Firecat 451 introduces original tracks into his mixes some of which are written especially for the event.

About

Stanton Warriors

Since bursting onto the scene with their multi award-winning compilation “The Stanton Sessions” back in 2001, the Stanton Warriors’ irresistible and inimitable sound has consistently remained the soundtrack to some of the world’s biggest and best parties over the past thirteen years; from East London warehouses, Miami boat parties and illegal Detroit raves, to the stages of Coachella, Glastonbury, Burning Man and Ultra, selling out global tours and topping DJ lists along the way.

In the studio, Bristol’s Mark Yardley and Dominic Butler have honed a trademark, uncategorisable sound that is at once all their own, but also utterly indefinable, leading to high-profile releases on XL Records, Fabric, Cheap Thrills, Central Station and Universal, alongside official remixes for everyone from Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim, to MIA and Gorillaz. This phenomenal output and remarkable longevity has ensured the Stanton Warriors legendary status amongst not only their fans, but also their peers, as they remain fresh, original and relevant; obstinately dancing to beat of their own drum and helping to pave the way for new talent.

In 2014 alone, the Stanton Warriors topped the Beatport charts (again), inspired Disclosure’s Grammy-nominated album Settle, got Annie Mac dancing on her living room carpet, opened London’s 3k capacity Building Six club, saw their podcast shoot to No. 3 in the iTunes chart and smashed the stages of Ultra, Supersonic and Glastonbury.

In 2015, Stanton Warriors typically show no sign of slowing down with a brand new album featuring a host of new exciting bass artists such as Cause & Affect (aka Chris Lorenzo & Kane), sold-out tours across the USA, Europe, Australia and the Far East, collaborations on Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird label and a slew of exciting releases on their own tastemaker label Punks.

The jFET Project began in early 2011 by Producer / DJ “Jangatha.” After over 50 house music releases on some of the most respected labels in both digital and vinyl format, the need to seek fresh sounds was instilled and inspired by the edgy bass music arena. The focus is rather simple, to push fresh hype sounds in any BPM it fits best. jFET’s sounds have been catching on quick. His debut EP reached #15 on the Beatport Dubstep Release charts, and caught the attention of several respected blogs including The Untz. 2012 included a release from Play Me Records as part of the New Blood of Dubstep. With support from international touring acts such as Figure, Ajapai, and Reid Speed, we will likely be hearing much more to come from this eclectic project. jFET: Intergalactic Hitman / Producer / Performer.
