About

Skeleton Crewe

The worlds of Hawaiian slack key guitar, psychedelic pedal steel, masterful keyboard, bass & drum work converge as five virtuosos of the jam band scene announce the formation of Skeleton Crewe. Born from a serendipitous collaboration in early 2024, this unique musical collective features Rob Barraco (Dark Star Orchestra, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Dead), Barry Sless (Bobby Weir and Wolf Bros, David Nelson Band, Phil Lesh and Friends), Grammy-nominated Hawaiian slack key guitarist Stephen Inglis (Billy Kreutzmann), Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship, Hot Tuna, Phil Lesh & Friends, David Nelson Band) & Jay Lane (Dead & Company, Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros, Ratdog).

The group’s formation traces back to January 2024, when Sless and Inglis first joined forces for what was meant to be a one-off performance. The chemistry was immediate and undeniable. The duo’s successful California shows caught the attention of keyboard virtuoso Rob Barraco, who joined forces with Inglis during a Dark Star Orchestra show at the Hawaii Theatre in April 2024. The natural musical connection between all three players led to the formation of Skeleton Crewe Trio which in turn led to adding Barry’s longtime musical partners Pete Sears & Jay Lane on bass & drums.

This collaboration brings together many musical traditions: Inglis’s mastery of Hawaiian slack key guitar (he’s a recipient of the prestigious Ki Hōʻalu Legacy Award), Sless’s pioneering pedal steel work that has graced stages with Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, Barraco’s sophisticated keyboard artistry that earned him a place in The Dead’s lineup (an experience that preceded nearly two decades holding the keyboardist chameleon role within Dark Star Orchestra), the dynamic improvisational work of Pete Sears on bass, and the solid improvisational drumming of Jay Lane.

Each performance, Skeleton Crewe promises to offer high level artistry hosting an intimate evening of original compositions (many of which were written by Robert Hunter in collaboration with Barraco), Grateful Dead interpretations, and dynamic improvisations that span genres from traditional Hawaiian to psychedelic Americana.

Hemlock Row & MooseTooth @ The Mousetrap – Saturday, June 13th

Hemlock Row & MooseTooth @ The Mousetrap - Saturday, June 13th

On Saturday, June 13th, Hemlock Row joins forces with the zany and eclectic MooseTooth for a fantastic night of melodic, alternative and prog rock jams at The Mousetrap—and we’re beyond stoked to have both bands sharing the stage!

21+

We recently hosted our first-ever Mousetrap Battle of the Bands and received almost 50 submissions. Hemlock Row was among 12 bands selected to compete in the first of four rounds. This fantastic alt/indie rock band not only won that first round, but came out swinging in the Final Four, claiming the title of 2025 Mousetrap Battle of the Bands Champion!

⟡ Hemlock Row
This exciting alt/indie rock quartet has a unique style that is highly melodic, invigorating, and dynamic, weaving dual guitar melodies over driving drum grooves and tight bass lines. Their live sets showcase strong musicality and thoughtful songwriting, creating an evocative and triumphant experience for the audience.

Formed in 2019, the band consists of members Hunter, Taylor, Darrin, and Jared. They are quickly making a name for themselves with live sets that transition from exciting covers to hard-hitting original songs. The band recently won The Mousetrap Battle of the Bands, released their single “Cold Beating Heart” in March 2026, and is preparing to enter the studio to record a new album.

⟡ MooseTooth
Formed from DIY recording sessions between band members Thomas and Sam in 2019, MooseTooth is an exciting six-piece band that channels a bold, genre-bending mix of rock, folk, and jazz into a sound that’s as unpredictable as it is electrifying.

Their 2022 debut album, It All Tastes The Same, is a dynamic collection that blends older and newer material—jumping from intimate, reflective moments to wild, offbeat bursts of creativity. In 2024, they followed it up with the vibrant four-song EP, Bleu, recorded at Postal Recording.

Known for their unique live shows, MooseTooth delivers a performance unlike any other band!

MooseTooth

GET THAT TOOTH LOOSE

IT’S TIME TO MOOSE

The true children of the corn, MooseTooth is an Indianapolis band comprised of Thomas East, Jordan Maddox, Sam Purtee, Michael Klein, and Aaron Randall. Specialzing in making a square peg fit a round hole, MooseTooth inflicted their debut album, “It All Tastes The Same,” upon the world in 2022. Obscure Sound writes:

“The captivating debut album from Indianapolis-based quintet MooseTooth, It All Tastes The Same is a creative tour-de-force. With stylistic pursuits spanning from soaring rock to intimate folk and dexterous jazz, It All Tastes The Same introduces the talented act with vigor.”

In 2019, brothers Thomas and Sam spent a summer holed up in the back of some old guy’s cigar-choked house and started recording some music. From this almost waste of time was born MooseTooth. With members ranging from a classically trained saxophonist to an overzealous 18 year old bassist, they thought, “Why not?” And so after sharpening their antlers, they headed down to Engine Room Recording and made an album.

“It All Tastes The Same” is a collection of songs that are both new and old, some of them having been written almost a decade ago, some written in the present. Songs range from personal snapshots in time, to hysterical nonsense vessels for expression, and even a bouncy, jazzy tune about a real piece of shit named Brian. All artwork for the album was done by the amazing David Dines.

MooseTooth has been gaining a following through high energy shows around Indianapolis, and are looking forward to making some new pals in new places here soon. Contact us for more info, booking, or anything else you feel like you should know.
